  1. Whether you agree with ULEZ or not, it certainly seems to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for a lot of a people when it comes to automated traffic enforcement.

  2. To be fair, I’d be driving out of Wigan at 100mph if I could.

  3. Sounds like Wigan need an extra 10 speed camera, funded by a rise in council tax

  4. I assume you only have an issue with a speed camera if you actually speed.

  5. Laws are mostly by consent there just aren’t enough police to police all of us so we have to consent to being policed. The consent has been pushed and pushed and I believe what we’re seeing with the cut down of ulez cameras Is that consent being eroded by politicians that push it too far

  6. I can understand getting done by somone hiding in the bushes with a radar gun. But if you’re getting caught by the giant yellow boxes I just consider it an idiot tax for not looking where you are going

  7. When you have councillors and the media not condemning criminal activity this is what you get

  8. We are going to need cameras to protect our speed cameras and cameras to protect the cameras that are protecting the speed cameras.

  9. This may be controversial, but if you stick to the speed limit these cameras can’t do shit to you. I’ve had people tell me speed cameras make the road more dangerous because people slam on to slow down, like the camera is the problem and not the fact nearly every one is driving over the limit

  10. In the press it’s a case of criminal damage to road traffic cameras good. Criminal damage to buildings by just stop oil etc, bad

  11. Someone cut one down close to my parents house the other week. It’s not had any camera inside for years and has been painted over for years

  12. In Kingston upon Thames, I’ve seen one camera vandalised (it got filled with expanding foam and burst the frame) but another thing I’ve noticed. People have been turning the traffic cameras on the lights inward to face the pedestrian crossing. It’s madness.

  13. Cutting it down would take a long time, There’s a great chance of getting caught. it’s quicker and easier just to drill a hole in the side and fill the camera box with expanding foam

  14. As a driver, I have zero problems with cameras that serve an actual purpose. The issue I have is the ones that seem to only exist to extract money due to unfavourable road conditions.

There are two examples near me:
    1. Downhill road that is a 30 which used to be a 40. The road ‘feels’ like a 40 still. Theres a camera placed just perfectly that you can’t see it until the last moment when you’re already struggling to keep it at 30 on this hill.
    2. Main artery road. Goes from 50, to 30, to 50 again due to a crossroad with traffic lights. So this speed change happens in the space of about 150 metres. If you catch the lights on green, theres a fair chance you’re still going way over 30, If the road was such a danger that it needed a camera, then it should be a roundabout.

  15. Captain Camera sez “If you see a multi nova, mount the kerb and run it over!”
