32 years ago on this day, Azerbaijan’s state-sponsored massacre of Armenians began in Baku

  1. Just yesterday Aliyev repeated his constant threat of wiping Armenia off the map:

    >”In November 1920, our territory, Zangezur, was annexed to Armenia. Earlier, on May 29, 1918, the city of Yerevan was transferred to Armenia. So, as they say, we have many reasons for not recognizing that area. Nevertheless, for the sake of future peace, for the sake of establishing relations between the countries, we are ready for that, but if they do not want that, then we will see what will happen,” Aliyev said https://hetq.am/en/article/139971

The European Parliament has recognised such threats in a resolution about the Armenian detainees held by Azerbaijan on 20th May 2021 (btw detainees which still have not been returned by Aliyev despite calls by the EU):

    > whereas on 12 May 2021, troops from Azerbaijan temporarily entered the territory of Armenia, which amounts to a violation of the territorial integrity of Armenia and of international law; whereas this violation of Armenian sovereign territory follows **worrying statements by Azerbaijani representatives, including the president, which appeared to raise territorial claims** and threaten the use of force and thereby undermine the efforts towards security and stability in the region; https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/TA-9-2021-0251_EN.html

  2. Fuck the Aliev family. Both father and son (and now the next generation) so blindingly corrupt, so powerhungry, so ego driven.

  3. Another weak showing from Europe on this, one might almost start to wonder if Al Saud dollars are influencing foreign policy within certain European parties.

  4. Those here who say “but it’s UN recognized Azeri territory” are counting on you not knowing that this happened in Baku, the capital, far way from disputed territories. In fact, it’s this blind insane hate of Turks and Azeris towards the Armenian minority, that has caused the Armenians in disputed territories to start protests for independence and reunification. These pogroms/massacres happened in a few cities in Azerbaijan (Sumgait, Kirovabad, Baku) before Armenians took up arms and started a full out independence war in the Armenian-populated area of Artsakh.

The history of course goes much farther back. First big pogroms in Azerbaijan happened in 1910s-20s, where for example the Armenian side of the town of Shushi was completely demolished and tens of thousands were killed or exiled.

  5. 32 years ago, Azerbaijan was still part of the USSR and technically was ruled from Moscow. If we, as a nation, had any authority over Azerbaijan SSR, first, we would save ourselves from Black January, the massacre that was orchestrated to suffocate the independence movement.

  6. Oh, I knew that closeted nazi dude with a ship profile would be here, like flies to a pile of shit…
