  1. I love dogs but this sort strategy has disaster written all over it

  2. Can we send them back?
All it will take is for one of them to attack another dog or person and something will no doubt kick off.

  3. It’s not the dogs fault their owners are idiots. Unfortunately they will probably have to be put down because of the way they were trained, or should say untrained.

  4. It sounds like he’s taking them from people who were planning to abandon them – poor pups. I hope they find owners who are ready to follow the law when owning one but it seems unlikely.

There should be a license to own a dog.

  5. And will he take any part of the responsibility for any damage they do?

  6. I’ve actually only ever seen one of these dogs in real life, it’s quite often left outside a local sainos and scares the shit out of me. Even before they became such a media talking point I always felt so nervous around them. Its not that I think they are more likely to attack, I’m not going to get into any of that and to be honest I’m not a massive dog person anyway, but the sheer size of them makes them pretty unnerving if they’re acting unpredictably.

  7. I knew this would happen.

Now all we need is for some poor sod to get attacked and then *maybe* the law might be changed……

  8. This seems like one of the few culture wars that actually has 2 sides to it, I can definitely see the need to protect against violent breeds, but can also see relatively specific bands on relatively arbitrary breeds doesnt do a lot to address the issue that most dog attacks are likely down to irresponsible ownership.

Its a pretty difficult situation to solve and one that our current political climate isnt really setup to deal with well.

  9. Why haven’t we introduced similar bans? It’s like we want them to come.

  10. I thought they were fine to keep in England as long as insured?

    Is the insurance that astronomical?!

  11. Why the fuck has our government not banned them yet…

  12. I’m sick fed up of hearing about these dogs every other day. It’s just the latest click/rage-bait hype, the tabloid press must love how easy it is to manipulate a lot of you.

  13. Let’s be clear, the owners of existing XL Bullies in England and Wales can keep their dogs providing they hold valid public liability insurance, neuter the dog, have the dog microchipped, keep the dog muzzled and on a lead whilst out in public, and register the dog. There is no good reason for the owners of XL Bullies to start abandoning them for them to be shipped up to Scotland. Absolute shower of fannies.

  14. All to try and be that little bit different from Westminster.
