Sunak and Hunt allies’ ‘stitch up’ to squeeze Truss out of Tory leadership race

  1. Pretty minor news as Hunt never really had a chance at the leadership. Hancock sticking around as long as he did shows that that the Health Secretary is a lightning rod position designed to take negative coverage away from Boris.

  2. It will be Sunak or Truss next. Sunak has been preparing for this opportunity for years and will not want to lose out to someone who has only just appeared on the radar, especially one who is perhaps even less competent than Johnson. The advantage Truss has is that there are backbenchers who want to exploit her naivety for their own gains, so they will help her get into power.
