The smallest company on the FTSE 100 is worth £3.5bn and the average is £8bn.
Some of the other comparisons, including to top lawyers/bankers, are more helpful because there are thousands of them.
They should work out how much money they make the company then do some kind of percentage calculation, to see if they’re overpaid or underpaid.
Yearly article about how leaders in billion £ companies make a lot of money.
Riveting and ground breaking journalism.
People in high management positions with lots of responsibility earn money, no change there.
Who’s gonna take on the risk of managing a multi billion pound company for £100k a year when they can be a shop local/regional manager for the same amount?
There are 97 people in the BBC earning 5x+ the average UK salary.
I have tried playing footsie with 100 bosses but they just ask me to leave so it doesn’t seem like that much of an earner.
They make way less than s&p 500 CEOs and pay way more tax
Yes, they’re also leading multi-billion pound companies. It’s reasonable they’re paid more
The article talks about how some of these top bosses are calling for higher pay for chief executives saying that LOW chief executive pay create risk to the UK economy. As there is higher compensation in countries like the US for chief executives. But surely these figures just show the overwhelming levels of pay inequality in the UK and the ever growing social divide with the hoarding of wealth by the few.
Remember, these are the same guys who can’t PDF a word doc. Sure they should be paid more but this is a bit silly
I don’t mind as much about the exact amount they’re paid. What I mind is how much they’re paid compared to their employees.
If a company is making enough for the CEO to make millions while the average employee only gets £30-40K then the company is underpaying their employees. Big profits should mean everyone who works there is benefitting. Not just the people at the very top.
Good for them. I wouldn’t want to be the CEO of a FTSE 100 company, which is presumably why they get paid so much.
If they were worth that I’d be fine with it, but half the time it’s just jobs for the boys.
Companies finances in tatters? Scandals all over the tabloids? Corruption? It’s all good, they still get huge bonuses.
That must be because they’re all in the office 5 days a week………… /S
