> There’s no use pretending Trump didn’t engage in insurrection in his two-month campaign to overthrow an election. Even Trump’s lawyers don’t really contest that he did it, which is why they resort to a nonsensical argument that the presidency isn’t an office of the United States. This is an obviously dumb argument from people who are out of ideas.

Fear is rarely a good reason to do anything, yet here we are…

Its so ridiculous to watch a GOP primary where all of them are so scared of Trump they won’t even criticize him. I am convinced the only reason there are so many of them is to keep anyone who is seriously challenging him from having any kind of support by dividing the field.
Bar the Republicans who helped them plan too.
Seriously, the last 7 years has made it clear that even 100% capitulation to the MAGA crowd doesn’t keep you safe because they will just come up with more Q nonsense to get angry and combative. Might as well piss them off.
“There is nothing to fear but fear itself”. Fear and anger are what propels the MAGA crowd forward. Fear on the part of the democrats just fuels them. What is needed is strength and resoluteness. Now is not the time to quiver.
I don’t fear clowns.
But a 76 year old, wheelchair bound, nursing home living man may call and leave a threatening message.
Is it possible that Trump being removed from the primary or general ballot could actually hurt the Democrat’s chances for President in the following way?:
Say Trump is removed from the ballot in a number of states that generally vote Blue. Nikki Haley, for example, becomes the Republican nominee in those states even though she isn’t the nominee in the majority of other states where Trump is. (She runs despite this to maintain Republican down-ballot turnout).
She prevails over Biden in some or all of those states, where it was unlikely that Trump would have, because she is more palatable to swing voters. Also, Trump not being on the ballot depressess Democrat and some Independent turnout, as they would have been motivated to vote against him.
Biden gets fewer electoral votes because of this, maybe not even 270, and the election gets thrown to the House?
Is this plausible? Perhaps someone wiser than me can comment.
(Also to be clear, I hate these people at least as much as you do, I’m just curious about this what if)
Appeasing fascists has never worked.
The right wing terrorism has already started and will not stop regardless of the election results. The difference is whether or not it’s state sanctioned in 2025.
Let Trump run. Careful what you wish for. Otherwise – Nikki Haley could very well be the next president.
The title of this post is a lie. Trump running is not illegal.
Remember when the United States did not negotiate with terrorists?
… the recent headlines in Colorado and other states only proves the point that DJT should be removed.
“But if we do the right thing, bad-faith actors and domestic terror organizations might get EVEN WORSE”
It’s just the excuse that Trump sympathetic Journalists, Editors, and “experts” are using to help get their Messiah back in the White House.
Fear of a MAGA backlash is exactly why we should stop him:
1. Don’t give in to hate
2. I would love them to try an armed insurrection just to watch them learn (another) lesson
We must capitulate to violent racists, so that America can heal.

By backlash he means violence.
Yeah, because the MAGA crowd is outraged at everything. It’s what they do.
Perpetual state of unjustified grievance, 👏👏👏brilliant article BTW.
It will only mean more of his cult who should be behind bars, will be.
The only people that are afraid are Republicans in Congress.
He apparently spent the night confessing to being an insurrectionist on his loser social platform. Will that make any difference? Will anything he does make a difference, while people try to raise kids in a dying democracy and China, Russia and Iran rally a supermajority of fascists on the planet?
Reality: Trump should be excluded from running for office for attempting to subvert democracy and being found guilty of sexual assault
MAGA: That was just some locker room treason! And he said that when you’re a star they LET you grab ‘em by the pussy!
