Would be a good country to have in the EU.
Already uses the Euro, is taking their accession very seriously. Recent elections unseated the longstanding rule of the same party yet progress towards the EU remains strong. Small population so manageable migration & won’t upset the balance at the EU Parliament.
Good relations with all of their neighbours and are already in NATO.
Only big thing is their unemployment rate of around 15%. For a country with a workforce of ~257 000 people this works out to 38 000 people unemployed and looking for work.
If you’re not expanding, you’re shrinking.
sure but they won’t join
The only thing I know about this country is rough location and that it got this mess with the highway construction by Chinese which they cannot afford and now have no highway, but high debt.
Anyhow it’s good to expand EU if they meet criteria. Especially of democracy and level of corruption. It would also help if during transition period they could lower their unemployment or everyone will leave the country after accession and that shouldn’t be the goal.
