Is 2024 going to be the first full year to breach 1.5C of warming? | Climate crisis

  1. But they said at COP (insert every COP date) we ll be under 1.5c in 2050 /s

  2. Don’t be silly, we have until 2100 until we reach 1.5c, right?

Oh did that change? Until 2050? That’s still so far away. We have plenty of time.

    Uh… maybe 2030? That’s my final offer.

Okay listen, the climate is really being unreasonable here, we are doing our best. I’ve switched to using paper straws, and I recycle. If that’s not good enough for the climate, then maybe we should just tell the climate to go away and bother Mars instead.

  3. Remember when they said +1.5c would *possibly* happen around the early 2030’s?

I keep tabs on a good number of published academics dedicated to studying the biosphere and Anthropocene extinction/biosphere collapse and they literally can’t produce research/analysis fast enough to keep their revisions up to date. They’ve started talking about +5c or higher by 2050 now. The pace of change has accelerated so much that we are now simply observers. The die is cast.

To be clear, we are all literally dead in a +5c world. The species goes extinct.

  4. Who gives a f***. We’ve breached sustainable CO2 levels **ALREADY** and they aren’t coming down.

It’s like watching a loaf of bread burn in the oven, go black and charred, possibly even catch fire, and then going ah ah ah, wait a second folks, we haven’t reached 200 degrees yet! So let’s leave it in there a bit longer until then. Then maybe see how things are.

    Crazy species.
