While old age poverty in Switzerland is an actual problem, this graph is mostly useless.
It shows % of people with less than half the „national median equivalized household income“.
Unclear what „eqzivalized“ means but this does not take into account AT ALL how much you can buy with half the median income.
Half of a Swiss median income can definitely buy you more comfort than half the Costa Rican median income…
So this just shows that retired people have lower incomes. Duh…
This doesn’t even consider savings, probably not even considering 3a or PK payouts (unless PK is taken as a monthly payment). So it can’t even show ACTUAL living standards for old people
What is the “poverty” based on? Solely on income? As far as I reckon they’re not poor at all 😂
Lots of criticisms but to me it doesn’t look like bad data.
The all age group is close to the estimated “working poor” people and with the impossibility of these people to save enough money to make a decent 3rd pillar they end up poor too at retirement age.
Not going to vote for that general 8% increase of AHV payments anyway.
