Nuclear is our only way to go green in short time.
taht is jsut bs. Did you take that screenshot when it was dark and had no wind across the country it sure looks like it. without the x-Achse this is worthless.
And your literal [source](https://www.cleanenergywire.org/news/germanys-energy-consumption-rising-renewables-share-falling-2021) tells you that 41 % or the electricity used in Germany was renewable. 12 % were nuclear.
I think that the nuclear lobby has to post a specifically timed snapshot to try and show its value, makes me rethink any small arguments they have about being relevant going forward.
Shutting nuclear down when working was stupid but it’s really not mainstream technology going forward, maybe a small supporting role but nothing more.
It’s almost sunset in January at 4 pm in Germany, what do you expect from solar?
Germany really screwed up on the whole nuclear thing.
No expert here, but why is Germany killing nuclear when it still uses so much coal (in comparison with nuclear)?
Are they used for differetn reasons?

Please open up your nuclear plants again. Instead Germany is asking the Netherlands for more fracking gas from the Groningen-gasfield in the Netherlands.
Nobody in the Netherlands wants more gas to be won from that field as the entire province is suffering from man-made earthquakes because of the fracking.
So Germany, please stop being a stubborn fool and don’t screw your neighbour by going for natural gas instead.
Cherry picking 🙂
Just in case someone here wants a more complete picture: the [before/after](https://energy-charts.info/charts/power/chart.htm?l=en&c=DE&stacking=stacked_absolute_area&legendItems=00000011000000000000001111110000) of that january 10, 4PM.
So… Closing nuclear plants, and not changing carbon sources for renewables…
Good good, well done. 10/10.
This is a snap-shot of a temporary effect. Definitely not “regularly” the case.
In fact solar and wind are complementary for most of the time – one is on peak production while the other one is low.
The graphics tells us that nuclear plants actually are substitutable by renewables – even if production is fluctuating over time. Take a look at biomass and hydro
Put the same amount of money that will be put into nuclear power, into power storage.
And skip uranium pressurized water — the close down of the plants makes some temporary sense.
The pipes and containment vessels and roofs all need to be checked over thoroughly.
Our retarded government in Ireland is following Germanys energy policy like a lemming
I think Nuclear Plants shouldn’t be shut down until their natural end of life, but this graphic is biased.
The solar one is understandable because latitude, but the wind one should be much higher

So when it’s already dark outside at this time of the year?
Why didn’t you choose noon OP? Because this is what it looked like at [noon](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/481171711623036929/931312468033146910/unknown.png). Even in winter during the day solar produces more than nuclear.
Wind being reduced probably also has more to do with load balancing than actual wind production… because being quick to react to load balancing is one of the big advantages of renewables. Takes fossil fuels longer to react to commands to produce less electricity and nuclear even more still. Which is why a complete renewal and modernization of the energy grid is also such a big requirement for “green energy” whether you use nuclear or not and where a lot of savings come from..
https://app.electricitymap.org/zone/DE here is the map in general.
I am pro nuclear, but the data is just from one hour around sunset in January. The title is highly misleading.
This post reminds me of the Shi’ite Muslims mourning the death of Imam Ali in 661 BCE.

It’s over. Get over it.
I think the chart is mislabeled. The dark colors actually represent the carbon emissions, and the light gray represents the actual energy production. Germany’s wind capacity is larger than any other source, and why would anyone think that coal has lower emissions than wind and solar?
4 of the last 8 plants where shut down on Jan 1st.
This chart is from Jan 10th.
Is this sufficient for the word “regularly”, considering a year having 365 days?
Reddit and nuclear power, name a more iconic duo.
Ah, we Germans are delusional, but nuclear power is “green” Got it
Shitpost.
Now show the average throughout the day. Oh wait, that doesn‘t fit your agenda, huh?
coal + natural gas ftw germany! lets pay papa putin what he wants and destroy the environment while doing so too, and ignore reason, irgh
