Guys, Turkish or Greeks, we are Cypriots above all. We do not belong in Turkey, neither in Greece and neither in UK.
If we want to find our identification as a nation we must think and act as a whole.
Politics are Politricks.
Don’t listen to them.
Only if we forgive each other NOW for the past , we can together move forward for the future.
Both sides made mistakes and both sides had their loses until today.
No more blood in our streets.
Please, start thinking as Cypriots, not as Greeks or Turks. As friends and neighbours not as enemies.
Nicosia is the only divided capital in the whole wide world and Cyprus the only divided island. If we want to change that we must first learn our history, learn to respect and learn to forgive.
I tell these things as thus is what I believe.
My grandfather played a huge role in this because being a “GreekCypriot”, did not stop him having “Turkish Cypriot” friends, learning their language and culture, playing Tavli and drinking Cypriot Coffee in the Kafené with them. He was a nurse, and this didn’t stopped him from helping injured people of both sides.
Even when his son(my uncle) was shot dead in the war of 74′ by Turkish militia (he was missing for 40years, then they found a small bone from his foot recognized by DNA.) My grandpa never used or liked the word Hate. I never heard him say bad things for Turkish people or felt hate about them because the army killed his son.
My grandfather respected all humans, not because of their religion or race and colour but because he was a respectful man.
He understood that with Hate we cannot move forward in life, he didn’t want this to pass to his family. And although he and my grandma passed a lot of grief time waiting news for their missing son, they never lose their hope in human kind.
I love them with all my heard and I wish all people could see this.
