  1. *From Bloomberg News reporter Daniela Sirtori-Cortina:*

McDonald’s is experiencing a “meaningful business impact” in the Middle East due to the war between Israel and Hamas, according to Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski.

The burger chain became the target of boycotts after photos and videos on social media showed franchised stores in Israel giving meals to the nation’s soldiers following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. McDonald’s operators in countries including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Pakistan said the actions didn’t reflect their own views.

“Several markets in the Middle East and some outside the region are experiencing a meaningful business impact due to the war and associated misinformation that is affecting brands like McDonald’s,” Kempczinski said in a message posted Thursday on LinkedIn, without providing specifics.

Kempczinski described the situation as “disheartening and ill-founded,” adding that restaurants are operated by local owners.

  2. Oh shame, poor McDonald’s. Its so terrible the war is affecting them so badly.

    /s

  3. In this case, misinformation means raw antisemitism

  4. Shit food having a shit time selling shit food. This makes me happy.

  5. >McDonald’s operators in countries including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Pakistan said the actions didn’t reflect their own views.

So what are your views dear McDonalds? You want to play both sides of the fence? Or maybe you support genocide on October 7?

  6. You mean it’s not that they are charging $10 bucks for their shitty-ass burger combo that I could get for less than $5 a few years ago? Cause I’m surprised that’s not more of a factor.

  7. It’s just not fair , they’ve been helping middle eastern kids get fat for years and now this. Gosh…

  8. What’s malnutrition and childhood obesity from eating garbage hurting?

  9. Not that I particular care about McDonald’s optics either way, but this statement is basically:

“This is totally untrue, but just in case it is, they’re acting independently to do the things that they are not doing”.

Fwiw though, when I worked for a franchise in the UK, it was policy that on duty police officers got free coffees. Whether someone in another country is opposed to a particular side in a conflict or not, it’s not terrible unreasonable that a McDonald’s would offer similar to on-duty service people?

  10. Is that similar to the misinformation of “we’re installing electronic ordering kiosks in order to keep prices low”?

  11. “CEO shows lack of spine to please the shareholders and earn as much revenue as possible”

  12. Well profits in the Middle East eventually become taxes in the US, no?

  13. interesting, considering McDonald’s past with Israel (did not enter israel market until most of arab country lift their sanction against Israel)

  14. And how many times has McDonalds paid lobbyists to spread misinformation?

  15. A reply was deleted after i mentioned there being video evidence of the Hannibal directive being used by the IDF from The Grey Zone on youtube, if anyone cares. This was shortly after being replied to by two accounts that werent even two weeks old, with all of their comments being antileft news sources. Really make you go hmmm

  16. You mean your price inflation as of late is not hurting business??

  17. Fuck you McDs.

You spent decades spreading misinformation so you had this coming.

  18. It’s technically true, but I feel that it doesn’t cover the whole issue. There is misinformation regarding the extent of McDonald’s with Jewish interests *which is a problem because the Middle East HATES Jews and anything associated with them*

  19. Maybe they shouldn’t let one of their branches support genocide

  20. The misinformation being that people keep mistakenly referring to what they sell as food.

  21. Shares on McDonalds dropped to $248 following the October 7 attacks. Shares are $289 right now. Fuck McDonalds.

  22. Keep supporting genocide and ethnic cleansing and you will lose money

  23. good. they should keep up the boycott. we get cheaper meals here in malaysia

  24. puts down burger BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP

    wipes crumbs away MURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRPP

    hah.

  25. The fact that anyone can think that McDonalds has anything to do with the Israel-Hamas war is so unbelievably delusional.

  26. Kind of like the misinformation they promulgated about the lady who was burned by their unsafe hot coffee?

  27. I would have figured $15.00 for a happy meal is the beginning of the end.

  28. What misinformation? That Islamic Muslims literally hate everything that isn’t heterosexual man?

  29. Another executive whining about their business not exponentially growing. Of course it has to be someone else’s fault, it could never be the ever increasing price and ever decreasing quality

  30. Ya. Nobody cares. Get bent McDonalds. Your food is overpriced garbage anyway.

  31. Here in Malaysia, my local McDonalds branch went from 24 hours to closes at 12am every night. People are boycotting them, and it seems to work. That being said, I can’t say whether people really understand why they are boycotting it or not, misinformation has definitely played a part.

  32. When people turn on McDonald’s globally that’s the canary in the coal mine that the US global hegemony is in shambles lol it’s like the geopolitical Big Mac indicator in economics

  33. There’s so much great food in the Middle East .. who the f wants to eat a tasteless McDonald’s burger

  34. These people in the middle east who are boycotting their local McDonalds have no clue on how international franchises work. They’re hurting the local franchise owners so much more than the parent company. Yeah, these same local franchise owners in Egypt, Qatar, Indonesia, and other predominantly Muslim countries who are actively sending relief efforts to Gaza. So how exactly are these people helping the Palestinians this way?

  35. And? People get angry cause they don’t like that certain people eat at Ur restaurant? Sounds like McDonald’s wants to meet the racists demands almost….

  36. I think generally fast food outlets and places like Starbucks have taken a hit. It would have happened anyway because reduction in disposable income. The ceo is just using this excuse to appease the shareholders
