Digging his own grave I suppose.
This has to be at least two months old, last time south/South-Eastern Ukraine had 17°C was early-mid November. No one is digging trenches by hand right now as most of the ground is frozen.

Not only do you have to face the drudgery of digging trenches and all that entails, but you need to keep laser focus to make sure you don’t pop up like a target such as this.
