On a serious note there’s clearly mental healt issues and possibly addiction issues here, I feel sorry for the poor child.

Prison and sterilisation for both ‘parents’. Despicable stuff.
Better they walk away than actually ‘care’ for the kid, coz that would be a death sentence.
It’s a tough one to deal with for authorities. The parents can’t really be done for neglect if they left the kids in the hands of authorities.

Stories like these (which unfortunately are probably far more common than we think when you take into account all the ones that go unreported) just reinforce the weirdness of needing a licence to own a dog but not to have a child.
When you think of all the people who would be loving and competent parents, more than able to support children but have to struggle with infertility it’s disgusting to see that they abandoned four that they seem to want to visit, but not even attempt to raise.
I don’t see why Tusla are giving them the privilege of seeing the children they cruelty abandoned.

Forget the forced sterilisation..can we take the guy who’s taking advantage of a woman who is “extremely limited in her capacity to understand and process information” the fuck away from her. It sounds like an extremely abusive “relationship”.
Can the state ask for child support if the father is working … just take the cost of each kid from his wages.

Yup there’s almost certainly some kind of illness or disability at play.
But is their right to reproduce greater than the kids rights that they keep having? What about the burden on the state.
A couple of instances you MIGHT make an allowance for. Certainly one. But four?

A lot of people reading this seem to be missing the part about the woman being limited in the ability to understand the situation. That honestly sounds like she has a major intellectual disability. This woman honestly needs help getting away from this man.
This is grim, but maybe the mother made the better decision for the life outcome of this child..

In an obviously fragile state of mind (and possibly with a disability) at least she left the baby in a safe environment with people able to care for them for the time being. I’m just glad she didn’t do something more drastic in an attempt to get out of parenting.
