  1. MAP OF THE DAY: Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Container ships heading toward Europe and/or North America, with almost all avoiding the Red Sea (red). More than two weeks after the launch of US-led ‘Prosperity Guardian’, the Houthis still rule in the Red Sea.

  2. It’s funny to see how blue is the English Channel ( I know that’s not the point of the post but I just wanted to say that )

  3. Isn’t Egipt losing tons of money in fee’s with this?

  4. Maersk announced it will not sail the Red sea.
The added time for rerouting south of Afrika means a 15-20% reduction in container freight capacity, and the cost of a container shipped will increase by 700-1000$.
More expense for consumers, and likely less items bought. This is not good news for China. I wonder if China will send dedicated war ships to the area, like some western nations like Denmark is Doing.

  5. Impressive. I am also curious of the estimated economic loss of the countries involving the red sea trade route.

Also, could another new potential player come into picture “befriending” the Houthis and start new routes possible dethroning the previous players? I of course would guess is not easy at all

  6. We’re back to the age of colonialism… oh no…

  7. How many days does that add to the shipping time if the ships avoid Suez Canal and make a circle around Africa to reach Europe?

  8. What’s up with that? Yemen or pirates Are not new thing

  9. This map shows barely any of the actual traffic, both in the region or worldwide. It’s doctored to push a narrative. Do better, OP.

  10. So, a lot of more fuel burn and extra pollution because people are just assholes?

Fuck this shitty world where assholes are let to do whatever they want!

  11. Could also be that theyve switched off AIS systems in order for them not to be tracked by the baddies

  12. meanwhile saudi arabia trying to build that insanity called neom

  13. Maybe Europe should reduce trade with China and increase trade with South America and Africa…

  14. If y’all think the prices would be the same y’all better think again bc it will effect all of our wallets

  15. Right. Time to make things in Europe again. Fuck global trade. Sick to death of being held hostage by every fucking Tom, Dick or Houthi.

  16. It’s good for EU manufacturers who can now compete with China.

  17. Only traffic to and from Israel is affected until they stop their murderous bombardment of human beings living and dying in Gaza.

  18. Yeah this is a bullshit map alright. This shows ships going to Europe and NA. There’s probably a bunch of Mediterranean ships going to Asia via the red sea.
