Think we need to stop fixating on road deaths like we’re a small nation anymore. We’ve increased our population a lot in a short amount of time. Of course more road deaths will happen
What the fuck is going on
In the last few days I encountered
1) driver who I’m convinced was drunk….barely able to keep the car straight….moving all over the lane.
2) watch car over take 3 cars in a row … dark country road
3) car overtaking a female cyclist and immediately turned left …. cyclist had to stop. She was shuck up…..I actually asked her if she was OK.
4) Driver on M1 weaving from lane to lane and
then moved over 3 lanes to come off.
Did back from work 90 km today and had 2 serious situations I would crash because other drivers in both situations 50- 60 yo male and female drivers.
What the fuck happened in lockdown that made everyone bad drivers?
No consequences for the vast majortiy of shit drivers in Ireland. It’s always someone else they kill aswell, if not along with themselves. Feels that way anyway.
Start policing our roads properly and heavily punish those driving poorly. Attitudes will change.
We won’t do that of course because people will start moaning about over policing or some such shite.
Introducing a portal where members of the public can submit evidence of dangerous driving is needed. It would get dangerous drivers off the road and improve the behaviour of others.
Only 5 days in and we have 7 deaths. Bloody hell.
Maybe if the Gardai and RSA throw out a few “please slow down” tweets in the new year. Completely unfit for purpose.
People are nuts on the road nowadays. I dunno what’s going on it feels like everyone is driving faster, driving up my arse, changing lanes by weaving in and out of traffic. I’m actually nervous on the m50 most of the time
People talk about shit driving in this country…
A week ago by the cemetary in Bohola in Mayo, they’re was a Hyundai being driven in the middle of the narrow road that I nearly met head on coming round the corner.
Would you believe it was a Garda Hyundai? Nearly shat myself when it happened.
People are never off their fucking phones, never off them. I’m not saying every single road death is caused by this but it’s definitely contributing.
People cannot obey speed limits either and actually see them as targets rather than limits. You don’t have to drive at 50kmph in an urban area where there are loads of pedestrians, it would help if people took personal responsibility and lowered their speed to what they consider safe.
Lower speed limits can’t come soon enough. For the people who would complain, I hope to god you never kill anyone with your vehicle and I also hope you lose your licence if you do speed.
My wife came in this evening white as a sheet. Said she’d had FOUR near misses on her journey from south Dublin to Trim… Lunatic on the kilcock exit roundabout from the M4 in a white van drove straight through without stopping, from the exit ramp heading east, then continued straight back onto the entrance ramp back onto the M4… 200 meters on, at the roundabout on the old N4, same thing again, a car just flew through the roundabout.
2 more incidents of lunatic overtaking on the kilcock-Summerhill road. There’s also 6 or 7 road signs, traffic lights, pylons and the like that must have got fucking milled over the Christmas. What the actual fuck?
