‘He’s got gold lamé wallpaper and I can’t pay my bills’: Tories warn PM on cost of living

  1. If they don’t want crushing social inequality, they need to stop voting Tory.

Conservative values can be boiled down to “Get what you can by exploiting who you can”.

  2. Tories complaining about not having enough money need to stop being tories and their situation might just improve. Stop voting for a party that actively hates you and allows/pushes policies that make life worse.

  3. Translation: Fix this before the plebs remember to vote us out

You always have to be doubtful when it is Jacob Rees Mogg of all people pointing this out to the PM

  4. And he got it by promising to use your money for some bullshit exhibition.

It would have been cheeper to just pay for it himself, but he’d rather throw loads of your money at it, than a little if his own.

    We’re being robbed.

  5. This seems like posturing to me. They are making the problems the pms fault and not the party. Yet the Conservatives have made us poorer accross 3 pms.

  6. The problem the Tories have at the moment is that they have a significant number of MP’s who won their seats in traditional Labour areas largely due to Brexit and they know it will be very difficult to hold onto those seats come the next GE.

Everything Boris is doing is just making an already difficult situation near impossible.

I’ve always said people wanting Boris to be removed are very short sighted.

The best bet we have for Labour to have a fighting chance in the next GE is for Boris to stay as PM.

  7. Wow I’m sure they will listen this time. Just a few more strongly worded messages guys! Just a few more elections and poverty will be solved!

  8. Its what Tories do. Cause problems. Then claim theyve suddenly noticed the problem and only they can fix it, by getting rid of their leader.

  9. I think/hope this might finally be the straw that breaks the camels back. Fuel prices higher than ever, NI rise coming, frozen income tax thresholds, energy bills going through the roof. I earn a decent wage and I can feel it in my pocket, god knows how other people are doing or are going to do once this really kicks in around April, especially a lot of the working class voters that the Tories took away from labour off the back of Brexit.

  10. If they can’t pay their bills they need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and consider downsizing their homes to free up those spare bedrooms. This will mean they avoid paying the extra bedroom tax and will also benefit a family who will use those empty rooms. I am sure their Tory brats can share a bedroom!

Oh wait. “Rules for thee, not for me” applies to this too.

  11. We have a poor government led by a man who has very little interest in the majority of people in this country, Boris’s only real interest is Boris and his croneys

  12. They won’t admit it but Brexit has hit GDP by around 4% (minimum). So someone’s got to the take the hit for that!

Remember also SIR Peter Bottomley complained about how “desperately difficult” living on an £81k salary was! It was so absurd I couldn’t believe he was actually being serious!

People complain about Tony Blair receiving honours but Tory voters shouldn’t throw stones in glass houses!

They are shower of (very minted) bastards who really don’t care about anyone else but their pockets and their friends pockets!

The UK will not improve until the Tories are out.

  13. BJ has no clue on the cost of living, that’s why he has no idea how much milk or bread costs. I’ve said it before, these people live in a very different world to us peasants.

  14. Skiving lazy lump steals money from his employer (us if you are wondering) shocker. Not that I am surprised in any way, the whole party is full of scumbags.

  15. Hmmm:

‘They said Mr Johnson “can’t ignore” the problem as he will look “completely out of touch” ‘

Boris is already managing the extremely difficult task of appearing even more out of touch than Jacob Rees-Mogg.

  16. “Let them have woodchip wallpaper” I do believe he actually wants to lose his PM role but no matter how hard he tries the rest of the party keep him there as punishment.

  17. Do the government get tax income from energy prices being higher? Is there VAT or a % duty on energy?

  18. The problem is, the Tories grabbed hold of a section of the country I’d call wannabe millionaires. They believe they’re on the same conveyor belt as the elite and so vote for someone they think has their interests are heart.

It was painfully clear in the last election when a questioner on the debates couldn’t understand that by earning above £80k he’d be in the top 5% of the country and was enraged by the suggestion.

I’m aware the UK has an awful history due to its empire and a cascade of other things, but the fact we elected a parliament that was willing to see school kids starve was a dark day.
