I want to say good but we live in such a corrupt society that even if they’re found guilty of fraud, no one will go to prison.
Slap on the wrist and a fine.
doing acts tending or intending to pervert the course of justice. Unlimited fine, life sentence.
It’s almost black mirror that folk have been sent to prison in disgrace and they are only checking who actually committed crimes 20 years on because of a tv show. It scares me how hopeless our police are. Started with partygate (which they policed and repeatedly refused to investigate!) and now this where they are only looking due to a dramatised programme
It’s such a sad indictment on our country that many victims of this can only get justice because of a tv show.
They’re ‘investigating’, now, so they can be seen to be doing something. But nothing will come of this. Absolutely dreadful shit
15 years is the maximum penalty for fraud. Hopefully we can have a public trial for the lot of them with Paula Vennells facing 15 years in prison per person wrongfully convicted.
Those at the top always seem to get away Scot free. As the saying goes Deputy heads will roll
Why didn’t they do this when the case was first active? It’s a sad indictment of our police force that they didn’t do anything from the years 1999-2015 regarding whose fault it actually was, but they will as soon as ITV makes a drama about it. Should just put old episodes of the bill in police stations and say “oink oink pigs yes this is what crime looks like”.
Might not be the place but I’m drawing parallels with this and the MET coming out and saying they’re not investigating prince Anndrew and the Epstein flight logs. They wouldn’t dare do anything now but wait till he’s old and Charles is dead and they pretend they’re on the right side of history by being late to the party.
Why not do the right thing in the present, instead of retroactively trying to fix the problem?
I’m asking questions but we all fucking know why. If you have enough money and power you don’t have to follow the law. The little guy will always take the brunt of it and they go on their merry way.
What a sad pathetic society we live in. These mother fuckers are more dense than osmium…
Good. Absolute scumbags. I wanna see people in charge at the time in prison.
While a police investigation is long overdue, we really need an independent public inquiry, that holds cross party support such that it doesn’t quietly disappear.
The corruption, for that is what it was, is outrageous, and the utter refusal to accept responsibility, apologise, and attempt to make amends is simply immoral.
The wrong people went to jail. The wrong careers ended. We should fix that.
Assuming the defence barrister wasn’t a numpty, he asked “Is there any way there could be an … I believe the technical term is “bug” – in the software?”
If the witness said yes, the verdict would have been not guilty, since that throws reasonable doubt on the charges.
We must assume the witness said no, which is perjury.
If it gets to the compensation claim part, Royal Mail are financially fucked as the payouts will bankrupt them!
