We Can Already Stop Climate Change If We Want To

  1. Suicide pact it is then.

But for real pretty sketchy to artificially reduce the temp while still producing co2 if we for some reason stop “reflecting” back the light, presumably with some kind of aerosol we’ll have all that new co2 in the atmosphere and destroy the planet for realzies.

Actually though imagine if we find out the aerosols have some other negative effect like they are carcinogenic or kill all the plankton in the ocean some how or any number of things that might cause us to have to abruptly stop. We all know we will use the reduced temps and effects as an excuse to slow decarbonization efforts.

  2. Yep, those are indeed the steps, in no particular order.

It’s now abundantly clear that no single step is enough, we need to do all three. Some of the more, shall we say, enthusiastic (ie rabid) environmentalists will say steps 2 and 3 are just excuses to avoid step 1 but we’re well beyond that point now.

We can actually do all three on a small scale ourselves but it will take a lot to get industry to follow suit.
