  1. As we see in the video, Skynex is a networked system. The system can be stationary (as shown in the video or mobile on trucks.)

The guns are simmilar to the older Mantis AA system. But Mantis AA guns have no own tracking radar. In the Skynex configuration each gun is equiped with extra sensors.

It is designed as a point defence system (to defend weapons factorys, power plants…) not a highly mobile AA system like Gepard. The Gepard successor would be Skyranger.

Skynex will be great in defending infrastucture or the new RM joint venture factory i am sure.

Note: The video is 3 years old.

  2. Wow, the music and the narrator voice sound so similar to the propaganda videos in the Starship Troopers movie\game 🙂

“Would you like to know more?”

  3. How can it be automated though?

I mean, without human verification, it could end up shooting down civilians aircrafts.

Does it have AI to tell the difference?

  4. Okay if it can even shoot down incoming artillery, wouldn’t it be best to use it directly on the frontline? I mean you could secure a convoy of tanks and IFVs that are breaching enemy defense lines…

  5. The neat part is near the end of the video. Currently they support a gun platform controlled by a control center and radar platforms, but they will have an electronic warfare extension, new sensing extensions on the guns, laser cannons, new radars, it’s basically a plug-and-play suite of defense nodes.

This platform has a control center where people can select targets, but one thing that we learned from the Chinese balloon incidents is that the radar can be updated to track new unknown targets. The radar reflection of a bird is different than a cardboard drone (or a Chinese balloon), but if the system doesn’t know what flying cardboard is then it won’t target the threat. That is until a person trains it to recognize flying cardboard as a threat.

  6. I present our new system…. Skynet..

No.. No.. No.. People will know.. Change it a little.. Superman needed glasses we o ly need to change 1 letter on our new autonomous ai controlled self protecting and backing up system..
