A workmate is going to Thailand soon and relatives there asked for this gift from London. Would anyone know 1. What is this? And 2. If and where it can be bought in London?

  1. There’s a German food store just off the market at London Bridge that may stock it

  2. These look like traditional German Christmas Gingerbread. Since Christmas has passed it might be trickier to find but you can normally find them at LIDL/ALDI sometimes year round for example or department stores like Fortnum and Mason at certain times of year.

  3. The exact same one or lebkuchen? Lidl sold loads over Christmas and I’m sure they’ll have left over.

  4. It’s a large, often filled, kind of Lebkuchen (sweet gingercake biscuit). They vary from large fairly ordinary ones to elaborately filled and decorated. They are a speciality of Nuremberg and if you go there you can find several permanent shops selling them and a large number of temporary stalls at the Christmas market with a huge variety of them.

I have found them at Fortnum & Mason before Christmas, but they may be out of stock now: [https://www.fortnumandmason.com/traditional-mixed-elisen-lebkuchen-400g](https://www.fortnumandmason.com/traditional-mixed-elisen-lebkuchen-400g)

Have you tried the website of one of the manufacturers, for example [https://metzgersoehne.co.uk/pages/christmas-gifting](https://metzgersoehne.co.uk/pages/christmas-gifting) ?

[https://germandeli.co.uk/wicklein-burggraf-oblaten-lebkuchen-gemischt.html](https://germandeli.co.uk/wicklein-burggraf-oblaten-lebkuchen-gemischt.html) is similar and seems to be in stock.

  5. Try Lidl or Aldi to see if they have any leftover from their Xmas ranges

  6. You can get Lebkuchen all over London. But only at Christmas, otherwise, Harrods or Selfridges will oblige

  7. There’s a Hungarian deli in Wimbledon you could call them and ask if they have this, Lidl or tesco might otherwise have old stock left from Christmas.

  8. Complete lack of seasonal German gingerbreads in Sainsburys this holiday season, I need to get my ass to Lidl.

  9. You won’t commonly find good lebkuchen in the UK but if you go also around Christmas time they sell it with apricot paste. It’s a strange gift to request of a British person

  10. >for this gift from London

I’m very curious why they’d ask for a German product from Britain lmao but I suppose easier found here than there
