  1. Bosnia too stronk for them anyway🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

  2. Even more young Serbian workers fleeing their country to work in our factories.

  3. This is a method to spread fear and they do this every year.

In a couple of days the president will announce how Serbia won’t introduce this and we shall all be saved by his grace.

There, I spoiled the ending for you guys. Cheers!

  4. Politicians announce this every once in a while.

I do think this would be a political suicide and a huge damage to the economy. Large part of GDP comes from outsourcing services provided by mostly liberal middle and young age citizens who would most likely leave. In previous conflict with this citizen class, the government had to step back.

  5. Nah it’s just that time of the year. It’s happening every year since 2016

  6. I have served regular Serbian Army in 2003…if they bring it back it has nothing with war but rather free labor for couple of months…back in the old Yugoslavia, army was very serious and you get well prepared in case of war…aside, where was needed great deal of work force, on big government projects the army was free labor…so, if they bring this back, surely army will be used as like that…has nothing to do with war…as someone mention it, if our army come close the borders of kosovo and metohija or bosnia and herzegovina, NATO planes are 20. mins away and they will level us again like 1999…you can’t go to war this days if either USA or Russia gives you green light…

  7. Serbia will never bring back conscription to the army. This is just a method of ruling party to get votes from older population that relates to mandatory military service in former Yugoslavia.

  8. What a bunch of nonsense comments.

This happens literally twice a year. Google it. It’s viewed positively by majority of middle aged and elderly (two biggest groups in population), sounds patriotic and creates a pseudo discussion in our society.

Usually it’s a distraction from a bigger issue. Like election fraud* and Kosovo plates** in this case.

People here are analysing their micro online bubbles and think it’s geopolitics…

*Fraud was happening before, but this is the first time that it was reported en masse by the interantional observers and foreign officials, who were usually first to congratulate Vučić.

**One year ago the president (even though he doesn’t have the authority for any of this) claimed that Serbian plates are here to stay. Repeating: “No Surrender!” like an idiot. And the first thing after the “winning” the elections is this.

  9. Same in Greece there is military service conscription for all able bodied men over the age of 18

  10. I think this is talked in every ex-yu country because it was mandatory in Yugoslavia. But no one did it for 25+ years so nothing will be and money is huge problem, actually it could be reason to bring back because free workforce to clean barracks and equipment.

Funny our Army(OS BiH) is under funded(200mil €) that police in whole BiH has budget 3-4 times greater than that.

  11. We used to have it in Finland, we still do but we also used to.

  12. Someone make sure that a company named Gründer Industries didn’t incorporate in Serbia.

  13. If they want even more young people to leave the country then they’re making a great choice.

  14. I thought conscription was the norm in Europe? Here In Sweden it was paused between 2010-2017, I thought that was an anomaly.

  15. Opening riff from “Welcome to the Jungle” will start playing while all of r/noncredibledefense collectively foams at the mouth.

  16. Salvini proposed to introduce it in Italy, so…
Sometimes people need the stick and sometimes they need the carrot.

It’s a political tactic to also deviate le public opinions.

  17. If I had a dinar for every time they announce this bullshit, I would have a lot of dinars.

  18. 4 months is next to nothing. You have time to learn how to dress, march and handle your personal weapon. Efficient fighting forces needs more time for training.

  19. I think Serbia is a basket case and shouldn’t get within an asses nose of eu membership until they sort out their democratic processes.

  20. Recently tried to kick off a war in the north of Kosovo but fortunately failed. Serbia has faced zero consequences for this, it seems the allies are playing a dangerous game which could backfire massively.

  21. Why is EU silent?

Serbian opposition politician Nikola Sandulovic was beaten by Serbia’s Secret service after having apologized for Serbian war crimes in Kosovo. He is now Being transported against medical advice in a prison van to the Prosecutor’s office.

  22. Serbia after the Yugoslav war reminds me of Germany between World wars. Entirely blamed for a war that it was their fault to a large extent but not entirely and in an economical and social decline while nationalism is on the rise partly because they lost some their territories after the war.

  23. Conscription aka involuntary military servitude aka slavery.

  24. What about people living in the diaspora? Can they require dual citizens living in other countries to return and serve in the military?

  25. No impact. Serbia has no allies and nobody takes it seriously.

  26. We have it in Finland. You camp, shoot shit, and throw a few grenades. Maybe fire an RPG. It’s fine—it’s six months minimum.

People seem to be incredibly negative towards it when it’s really nothing particularly major.

  27. It will give Serbs more prone to homosexuel tendencies
