Prince Andrew’s military affiliations and royal patronages returned to the Queen | UK News

  1. I didn’t even editorialise by using the word nonce.

Basically the Queen saying you are on your own son.

    >Prince Andrew will also no longer use His Royal Highness in any official capacity, Reuters news agency reported quoting a royal source.

This isn’t the same as being stripped of title, that would be remarkable but feels like the setup for that. I suspect he’s going to be told there is a revolver in the office draw if the case goes badly.

  2. Will he still be called the duke of york?

BTW In Halifax, NS, Canada they have been renaming all kinds of things named Cornwallis due to his fighting with the indians 300 years ago. Statues gone, schools renamed, parks renamed, etc.

Yet they still have a Prince Andrew High School.

On a side note, there will be(or are) US court orders to depose him. I suspect he will ignore these after trying to put massive limits on what they can ask. This could then turn into an arrest warrant and then an extradition request. I would bet exactly zero dollars that he will go to the US or get extradited. But those warrants could potentially be enforced in other countries. I could see lots of judges in various countries around the world not being all that happy with the UK for various reasons and happily ordering his arrest if he happens to be in town. Doesn’t mean he ends up in the US just that it is a big headache for him, maybe overnight in a Spanish jail or something, and then a mess for the foreign office to clean up; again.

This means that either the foreign office will have to clear a diplomatic path for him every time he leaves the country or he will have to never leave the UK again. There is also the problem that even if a path is cleared every time he travels where planes have mechanical problems and land in random countries.

While it must sort of suck to be a royal with almost zero chance at the throne (harry is higher on the list). There would be the benefit of being a name-brand celebrity and being invited to all the cool parties. Or, in his case, not any more.
