Do you actually believe it tastes better on newspaper?

  1. Health n Safety or the Europeans told us to stop this Brit Tradition due to the ink from the newspaper bollocks.

  2. Yes. Mainly because you eat with your brain more than your mouth so to speak. The paper (imo) makes the smell nicer, and the smell plus the taste is what makes flavour, so by making it smell better, it tastes better. Obviously doesn’t apply to everyone though

  3. No. Shit fish and chips still taste shit whatever you put them on.

  4. It’s been years since I had it with actual newspaper and not the greasepaper they give out, but it absolutely made it taste better.

It’s the being wrapped in catastrophic news that adds the flavour.

  5. This photo is not accurate. There is always a greaseproof sheet of paper and then plain white paper. The outer newspaper was just to keep it warm. Decades have passed and fish suppers are now sold in containers….

  6. Coming up next on this subreddit:

What is your opinion on the decimalization of the pound?

  7. Yes, definitely. If eaten in paper then it is likely you will be eating outside, perhaps even by the sea. All that stimuli will work on the brain to enhance the overall experience. It’s the same as enjoying a glass of alcohol on holiday in the sun outside a nice bar, compared to drinking the same while sat in front of the TV on a cold, rainy night in Blighty. It never compares.
