Went to Tescos. Had a brain fart while parking and managed to lose a fight against a pillar. Going to be phoning the garage on Monday to see how much of a dent this makes in my pocket. Happy new year to me, i guess lol!

  1. Probably just replacement bumper, see if you can find one at a scrap yard.

  2. Easily done, Sainsbury’s pillar not Tesco, black not red car. 550 for knock out, filler, paint, polish, as good as new

  3. How old is the car? That appears to be plastic so you could possibly straighten it out with a heat gun and paint it was a rattle can without really effecting the value

  4. Shouldn’t be too much to fix. Hope you can get it sorted ASAP!

  5. I am on first name terms with Bruce the local mobile bodywork chap as he has been out to me more than the bin men.

He’s done well out the neighbours too, not much he can’t fix, even quite serious fuck ups have been fixed for half the cost of anyone else.

Try local mobile chaps for a quote, you may be pleasantly surprised what they can fix.

  6. Honestly I’ve come to realise there’s a difference between a mistake and poor driving. We all make mistakes and we probably will all prang something at least once in our decades of driving. It’s not a reflection of you as a driver.

  7. I crashed into a pillar in a multi-storey. Misjudged my turning in. Similar damage and cost me £500 all in to repair. Make sure you tell the garage you’re paying yourself not through insurance.

  8. My car had a nice lovely interaction like yours did with a pillar at a supermakret carpark. left my steering skewed

  9. Just a car mate, fuck it. Will still pass MOT so long as no sharp edges.

Edit – fuck me that’s a lot of sharp edges

  10. Done exactly the same thing with an almost identical dent the first time I did a multi-storey.

  11. 3 wks after I bought my current car I pulled half the rear bumper off by snagging it on the side of a trolley shelter in the retail park car park. I just pushed it back into place & 18 months on am continuing to ignore the scrapes & cracks. Lights, parking sensors all still work thankfully. Felt like an absolute bellend though. This continued the pattern of me having a minor, single vehicle bump within a month of getting each of my last 4 cars ☹️

  12. Don’t take it to a garage; find an independent bodyshop and take it there instead.

Most garages outsource bodywork these days, and if your garage does it they’ll just send it to a bodyshop and tack their own margin on top.

  13. If there’s sharp edges, don’t take it out on the road – police traffic officers can prohibit it if it’s deemed an MOT failure and that can invalidate insurance etc

  14. Now, see, if this had been a pillar at Waitrose, that at least would be classy.

  15. Was on hols with my Dad a couple of years back and we were taking a taxi back to the hotel. There was a minor-impact crash on the way. My dad turned to me and said he was going to give the guy a big tip because it’s one of those situations where you know 100% that you were in the wrong and you screwed up and now it’s going to cost you cash. Hurts like hell, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

  16. Did the pillar suddenly step out into on coming traffic sir

  17. I know a twat if you feel like one. Introduction will be necessary. Know you are loved!

  18. With that car I’m going to assume you are at least 90 years of age

  19. We’ve all been there mate, as long as it still runs then it’s doing its job!
