  1. Shadow home secretary and Labour MP Yvette Cooper said in a statement: “This demonstrates how weak Rishi Sunak has now become and what an absolute scam the Tories’ Rwanda plan is.”

    Looks reasonable.

  2. shocking isn’t it everyone, we are shocked aren’t we

  3. Of course he does. Sunak is not a stupid man, but he is a very bad politician, and his weakness forces him to do stupid things.

  4. Who’d have thunk gambling hundreds of millions of pounds on some trite kayfabe that falls apart the moment you spend more than 5 seconds thinking about it might blow up in their face? Honestly, just all so surprising. I look forwards to all the people suckered in by all of this nonsense having a good long hard think about the seriousness of these kinds of proposals… Totally going to happen any day now…

  5. This isn’t looking good. I humbly suggest starting a pissfight with another foreign Prime Minister. Surely there’s some other non-issue we could blow up into culture war ammunition to help distract from this. Do metrosexual vegan elites want to take away the Gregg’s sausage roll?

  6. He’s bottled it!

I really thought they’d use this Rwanda bill as an election wedge issue.

Bill is almost certain to fail at the committee stage,
(and if by some miracle it made through, then it’ll die on it’s arse in the Lords)

Publicise that “defeat”, and plonk the bill in the manifesto.
Call election. Vote Con for the Rwanda bill.

But if it’s being leaked that Sunak isn’t 100% behind it,
then I’m not sure what they’re going to do.

He’s tied his reputation (such as it is) to this bill,
and now he’s trying to back-peddle.

    Absolute clown-show.

  7. Spending million of pounds to send a few hundred people to Rwanda, how could this be a bad decision?

  8. I still can’t quite come to terms with the whole Rwanda thing, its like someone dared them to make Trump’s border wall look sensible and astute….

  9. It was unfathomable that he doubled-down on it in December. He made it the only issue being discussed before the Christmas break. Talk about choosing your hill to die on…

  10. I mean this is no surprise to anyone. Sunak only went along with this to stop the more extreme parts of the party turning on him, and now he’s tied so much to it, he can’t risk turning on it or he’ll lose everything.

  11. Just shows what a weak leader he is. Literally pushing a project he knows is stupid to cling to power. This is literally life and death to some people
