  1. Good luck with that one. Why be an out of touch multimillionaire, if you can’t lecture the peasants?

  2. Gee, I sure hope no one gets political when *checks notes* a movie about the terrible murders of Native Americans by whites in the 20s is a top contender

  3. It’s fine if they do.

The winners talking about whatever they want isn’t the issue with awards shows.

  4. Yes if we don’t talk about the problems they will get better.

  5. The only nominated film that could be considered non-political is likely gonna be Mario Bros.

One could even argue it has an anti-communist message since Bowser’s army of equals is meant to represent the Soviet Union while the Capitalist profit-driven (COINS!!!) Mushroom Kingdom is meant to be the USA.

  6. I hope they DO get political. Saving Democracy is more important than some awards show.

  7. Why? Nobody cares what happens at awards that rich celebrities give themselves. Viewers are way, way down for all these idiotic award shows. Will smith slapping Chris rock was the only interesting thing that’s happened at any of them ever.

  8. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the only justification for celebrity culture is that they take the chance to publicly speak on positive societal change. Otherwise what are they actually good for?

  9. “Celebrities giving scathing political speeches at the golden globes? Well now I *have to watch*” said no one ever.

  10. No need to worry! Their friends are appearing on “the list”, they’re not going.

  11. I, for one, look forward to a celebrity telling me what should happen in the Middle East.

  12. Uh this is Hollywood, what do you expect. They always will

  13. Smile, nod, have no opinion, and spit out the meaningless drivel they tell you to say.

  14. Or climate change when everyone flew on a private jet. Pretty funny

  15. Thoughts and prayers. How appropriate and just as meaningful. There’s a lot going on that people want to get off their chests. Let them speak

  16. Like Ricky Gervais said one time when he hosted the GG: “Come on up, take your award, say thank you, and go sit down.”

  17. Fucking UKRAINE aid now. The money cycles back into our own economy through American manufacturing. It helps a besieged nation whose people are struggling. It’ll save money/ American lives down the line if Russia is defeated. One of them needs to say this.

  18. I guess they’re talk about how we’re destroying the planet for drinking with straws while they ride on their jets producing more greenhouse emissions

  19. > So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.

    > So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God, and fuck off, OK?

*- Ricky Gervais, Golden Globes 2020*

  20. Will anyone see/hear them if they do? Awards shows are garbage.

  21. Weren’t a lot of 2023 movies political or some type of social commentary undertone?

  22. A bunch of self obsessed people telling the rest of us what we should think because they are so virtuous. Oh great
