Picked the cheapest trains available on NMBS International. To catch the Ouigo, on the same dates, Brussels-Midi – Lille TGV tickets are only €30. IC is €19, Railpass and a seperate ticket for the international bit even less. Both Ouigo and Ryanair prices include luggage fee’s. Why NMBS?

  1. I’m from Belgium, but I live in Berlin. If I want to visit family, I can take a 1 hour plane for €50, or a 10 hour train ride for €150. Guess what I take?

  2. Wich bright mind at the eu do i need to send an email to bring up the next time they discuss increasing the fly-tax to take that tax income and subract it directly from international train tickets.

Eu cities do so much to attract young tourists from within the eu with all sorts of handy discounts, except the international train tickets.

  3. It´s always cheaper to start in Lille compared to Brussels for trains. For some reason it seems to become more expensive when it´s an international train ticket compared to a national train ticket in France.

Also keep in mind that the train from Lille is a ouigo train which is the low-cost tgv compared to the normal inoui tgv´s in Brussels.

  4. imo trains are not expensive, flights are just too cheap

offset the full flying costs and it’s a different story

though, I’m not opposed to general aviation, just private flying
