Definitely. It should have been done ages ago and there’s nothing Russia can do about it other than bomb a few more hospitals or kindergartens.
They should be, but actually doing so would cause irreversible damage to the US economy by telling all foreign countries their assets can be seized if they do something we don’t like.
It would also precipitate the seizure of American assets everytime we do something that a foreign nation doesn’t like.
Same logic behind why Obama vetoed that bill which would have allowed victims of 911 to sue Saudi Arabia and take Saudi assets in the US as compensation.
Sounds like a win-win-win to me. Ukraine gets to buy heaps of weapons, the West enjoys a boost to the arms producing economy, the Russkis get their asses kicked.
This money is only beginning…orcs will pay reparations for half century after the war is over.
They had no problem seizing assets from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Venezuela. This should be no different.
How to prevent that this money just disappears into the pockets of corrupt people?
I am pro Ukraine.
But do not forget it is a very corrupt country. If the money is used for the ukraine then let it be controlled by some Germán or Dutch tax and corruption experts.
In this way the money will be used for project’s that will benefit everybody, not just the happy few in certain positions. Do not release the money, just keep supporting Ukraine and after the war decide where to spend it on.
That sounds fair. It’s just like a date, whose ever idea it was pays.
Russia wanted to play, so they pay.
This could help speed up the end of the war once the oligarchs get riled up
