This paired with the statement by the U.S. pretty much entails that the U.S. and west will be building a defense industry within Ukraine so their funding goes toward Ukrainian defense self sufficiency. Both specifically mentioned building up Ukraine’s own defensive manufacturing
I’m struggling to see a path to long term security without a nuclear weapons program at this point.
That’s a given. There’s no other choice Ukraine has to fight and build to survive without relying on anyone. So when help does corn it’s a bonus
I want Ukraine to win soonest but I have doubts about this project.
I mean, even EU and US combined couldnt produce enough ammo for Ukraine, they are not at war with Russia either.
So how can UKR by themselves produce enough with their much smaller production capacity, while at risk of getting bombed weekly by Russia?
I would suggest to focus on asymmetrical, cheap and effective weapons instead, like FPV, Sea Drones, automated sentry guns, gun drones, UGV, mine layer drones, mine clearing drones, trench clearing drones, etc etc etc.
Basically use cheaper, smaller, more automated weapon systems to counter Russia’s meat waves and expensive large vehicles. Dont waste human lives on Russians, use cheaper machines to fight them from a safe distance.
But for AA, UKR has to depend on EU and the west, as anti air systems are very hard to make and too expensive to maintain alone.
This is the only way. Слава ЗСУ!
This approach fails to deal with the reality Russia can hit anywhere in Ukraine but Ukraine can’t hit everywhere in Russia.
It’s also interesting that this approach takes work away from American workers.
Something doesn’t smell right.
Smart. Ukraine with western suppliers against Russia with Iran and North Korea supplying. No contest as soon as this is up and running and building Ukrainian-built ATACMS, Stormshadow, and so on.
