Wahey, it’s late, it’s Saturday night!

Why are you still up? Off out for [a fight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NagnbRHdh-0)? Doing the night shift?

Come on in for a chat.

  1. how many jelly babies does everyone reckon they could fit in their mouths at once?

  2. Just back in from work. Completely missed the newcastle match cause of it. Was not expecting that score.

One more shift to go tomorrow then 3 off. Worked 9 out of the last 10 days and none of it even amounts to overtime. Joys of split days off. Does mean after tomorrow though I’m only working 2 in 8 days. Swings and roundabouts.

Did try putting a tenner bet on the newcastle match but 365 was playing up. So this evening I decided to just whack it on a random horse. Was going to pick the 66/1 horse and go fuck it. Then thought nah, I’ll play it sensible-ish and go for the 7/1. Mine came in 2nd to last. 66/1 came in first. Could’ve had myself 660 quid there.

  3. Currently halfway through the film Kill Bill: Vol 1, probably going to watch Vol 2 afterwards… got a puppy on my lap, a beer in my hand (Kronenbourg), and a belly rumbling for more Xmas chocolate…

  4. So I’ve somehow managed to keep up with my resolution to get up at 6AM every day and holy moly each day feels everlasting. I’ve done so bloody much!

The highlight of the day was running around Waterstones, picking up books in the sale, I can finally get stuck into *Legends & Lattes*. I also let a dude go in front of me in the queue in Aldi because he had a sandwich and I had my weekly shop – he was decently chuffed and thankful about it – made my day that bit nicer.

    >I think Converse will always be in fashion. They are such a great, general shoe.

  5. Wanting to step up my language learning this year. Been doing duolingo daily for nearly two years now, but feel like I’m still at a day 1, week 1 stage.

Anyone got any good resources (Web, or books) for learning German?

Am also keen to give Welsh a go, as something very different but also someone who lives on the border.

  6. Bit of a boring yet annoying day today. Shitty landlord and shitty tenants from the flat above are the bane of my life.

Still, I did the first cook of a variation on [a recipe I wrote down 10 years ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodPorn/comments/16kn5q/homemade_dongbo_pork_with_braised_potatoes_oc/) for Dongbo Pork, and _oh my fucking god_ it’s good. I do a lot of cooking and I’m rarely overly pleased with anything, but that looks like it’s going to be absolutely cracking, so I’m really looking forward to dinner tomorrow.

The rest of the evening was watching Paranormal Activity 1, 2 & 3. There’s a jumpscare in 2 where the ghost slams the door really loudly. As the door slammed my front doorbell went off and I nearly shat out my liver.

  7. No idea of anything that is classed as in fashion in society ever.

I’ve started my first book of 2024 in an effort to read more. I made it to page 19 but I don’t have enough light and didn’t fancy putting the full light on. The Lost Bookshelf.

Spent most of today lazing & resting. We are now on day 11 of whatever lurgy this is and I’m bored now.

Tomorrow I’m definitely going to get out of the house. Even if it’s just for a walk and a hot chocolate.

  8. The only fight I’m involved in tonight is getting my socks off before bed. Rock’n”roll.

  9. Evening all, hope you are well.

Nothing is always in fashion. Fashion is transitory, it waxes and wanes. Like the seasons, fashion will repeat itself, even more in the age of tictok. What you are asking about, my dear Automod, is style. A little black dress, a beautifully made coat, a charcoal three piece suit fitted perfectly, that pair of shoes that somehow go with everything, that is style. Fashion comes and goes, style is eternal.

I apologise for my verbosity. I used to fancy myself a writer. I went to groups and got a couple of bits published, but my mental health was never good enough to pursue it properly. After my Dad died, I just gave up. Earlier today, something on Reddit triggered a thought, then an idea, and now I am thinking of an entire book or screenplay. After all this time, I know that it will be crap, but I am excited to feel like this again.

  10. I have just discovered dipping left-over Christmas Stollen in Irish whiskey. Oh. My. God.

No idea about fashion. Thought it was a wheel.
