Im a 2nd generation Finnish-American and a bit of a history buff. I have this flag from my grandfather (who served in the Winter War and most likely the Continuation War, judging by the date on the plaque). I’m curious if anyone knows what “INSMAJ” stands for. First Google search shows Finnish Intelligence (though I don’t see that acronym present in that link).
My mother is very minimal on any history of my grandfather (which might make sense, considering the Google search), other than “he fought the Russians on skis, and got shot in the ear”. Sounds like a typical Kimi response to me.
