I am Swiss (Swiss-French). My German is about a 6/10, so I’m posting this in English.

I have a vintage hat e-commerce business. 70% of customers are in Europe. (50% UK and 20% EU. Germany being the biggest EU market)

I’m looking to base the business in Europe now and grow it in Europe and open a physical store. As a Swiss, I’m exploring Germany and France as options. Switzerland is more expensive and has some disadvantages since it’s not a full EU member.

I was surprised with the orders from Germany as the shop is only in English. Though I’m aware many Germans speak good English. It still surprised me a bit.

I’m currently based in between Thailand and Australia.

Questions:

1. Which German cities have a strong vintage clothing scene?

2. Are there any German specific groups, websites or resources where I can learn more about the vintage clothing scene and markets in Germany? I’m hoping to test the vintage markets and also reach out for vintage partners.

3. Is it normalized in Germany to order from English only websites? I’m considering translating the shop into German. To see if it increases German user engagement further.

The shop is: www.cheapcoolcaps.com

This is not my main career, but I’m now looking at growing and developing the business further from Germany or France. Thanks!
