  1. IIRC, Christian IX of Denmark had the informal title as “European father in law” at the time.

  2. There’s a really interesting book about these three and the impact they had at the turn of the century and into WW1: The Three Emperors by Miranda Carter.

It’s an easy read (if quite long) and absolutely fascinating.

  3. There are letters btw the Tsar and the Kaiser, written in English, in which they refer to each other as “Niki” and “Willy”

  4. I have heard of it before and thought they all were first cousins, but doesn’t this mean the king of England was first cousin with the others but they were only third cousins?

  5. WW1 was just a family feud that got a bit out of hand

  6. Wilhelm and Nicholas called themselves “Nicky” and “Willy” in the letters they exchanged before WW1

  7. How about a hand for that Scallywag Leopold II?

  8. There is a Horrible Histories song about this on the cusp of the first world war breaking out. Pretty catchy tune.

  9. If there were conspiracy theorists at that time, they would be losing their minds of how the world was controlled by one family…

  10. And Albert 1er who was the Belgian king was the descendant of the saxe-cobourg and gotha dynasty so he was also one of their cousins

  11. If all of Queen Victoria’s children dropped dead except for Princess Victoria, then Kaiser Wilhelm II would have been King of Great Britain.

  12. Hence West hates Russia as they executed a cuz of British royalty. And now look at the mess we are in
