Brighton i360 risks becoming an ‘expensive white elephant’ as British Airways ends sponsorship

  1. I went up this on a trip to Brighton, cool thing but I didn’t get the whole British airways theme. It felt like a shit airline lounge.

They serve wine up there as well i think.

  2. > Her comments come as the attraction continues to fail to meet visitor targets having made a loss of more than £5 million in the year ending June 2020.

    > Just 195,754 people visited the attraction – around half the predicted target of 390,000.

Not that it doesn’t seem overpriced but how did Covid impact that? Any limitations on groups going up and down it?

  3. I don’t get why this was built in the first place there isn’t that much to see, the English Channel isn’t the Caribbean or the East Indies you aren’t going to be seeing coral reefs and schools of tropical fish through clear crystal blue waters…

Who’s gonna pay money to see the murky water of the channel and more recently the offshore wind farms? That is if the weather even allows you to see anything which even in the summer isn’t a given.

  4. It’s a little ugly but when you’re on it you get lovely views of Brighton and the surrounding downs without having to see the i360 which is nice.

  5. Absolute pile of shit. All the schools in Brighton were given free tickets when it first opened.
Breaks down all the time now and it’s literally rubbish. A view of Brighton one way and the sea the other. If its cloudy, then nothing.

  6. Used to go to Brighton all the time. Then the council obliterated anywhere to park. So stopped going and went to Dorset instead. Shame, used to like the odd weekend there

  7. >Tickets for the i360 are from £16.50 for adults.

    Lmaoo what…

I woulda said a fiver, certainly no more than 10. It’s not like the view is gonna be particularly good

  8. Just get Emirates to sponsor it and the council to agree and acquire paint to coat it in rival football team colours. À la Spinnaker (originally Millennium, but finished too late) Tower. Lots of free red paint in Pompey after that.
