  1. So the SNP are back to Brexit lies about an independent Scotland.

  2. For who? XL bullies? Sure.

Rents, electricity, tax are all going up. Barely any GPs are taking new patients. Ambulance wait times 10 hours.

  3. Last desperate throw of the dice before his own party empties him.

  4. It might well be true. But certainly not on a timeline acceptable to the electorate.

Is he willing to be honest and tell the 25-40 crowd that they should be ready for independence causing 25-50 years of even worse economic disruption, with the promise that at the end of it living standards might rise?

  5. “Scottish independence would raise living standards and productivity, First Minister Humza Yousaf **is expected to say** in the first of a series of economic policy speeches.”

“While Scotland has “extraordinary resources” and “key economic strengths”, the **First Minister will say** the UK economy is one of “low growth, low productivity and chronic inequality”.

“**He will also** launch an attack on the two main Westminster parties, kicking off a year likely to be dominated by electioneering.”

This entire article is talking about future speeches and shit that hasnt happened yet?

Halk and pushing bullshit on the subreddit? Does the day end in y?

  6. Despite the SNPs own papers admitting independence would lead to a decade of austerity?

There are absolutely legitimate democratic arguments for independence. Every nation has the right to self-determination in whatever form they feel is most beneficial.

But to say it would lead to an increase in quality of life when their own papers say the exact opposite is just lying.

  7. We also believed Sturgeon was using party donations in an honest manner.

  8. More commonly known as common corruption politics in Britain is broken look around you who do you see thriving all out services are in a state of disarray

  9. And the streets would be paved in gold, and we’d all get jobs from the job fairy.

  10. It won’t in the short term, we all know that. I’m more bothered about the democratic argument and having the piss ripped out of our country by the WM system.

I’ll take proper country and being slightly worse off for a bit over this current set up any day.

  11. Maybe but certainly not if we were ruled by the SNP/Greens. I think it’s pretty clear they have no idea what they are doing at a basic level let alone doing something to actually help us.

  12. The usual voices on here sneering away, but not one can answer to the glaring reality that we are suffering under a broken, chaotic, bankrupt, corrupt red and blue tory ideology, bought and paid for by vested interest ” donor sponsorship “. A Westminster system that doesn’t hide the fact it fucking hates you upstart jocks and are looking you in the eye and telling you theres worse to come through more and more austerity measures.

Foodbanks, baby banks, refusal of pay rises, multi billion tax payer theft and waste, royalty pandering, utter indifference, lie after lie after lie, Brexit, section 35’s, status collapse, illusionary democracy, but hey, better that than contemplation of our own self worth and proven viability, eh ?

It takes a very special type, who can read today’s Sunday Mail for example, and see a grinning Dame Jackie Baillie given leave to spout how shite we are and need the ambilical cord necessity of the glaring disaster that is Westminsters ruinous patronage for our lowly survival.

Maybe, like the convoys of cheap drink merchants heading over the border, the petulant wealthy farcically threatening to do the same, those on here can join them and leave to that comfort and joy that is Westminster rule down south.

Or at least attempt to explain how Keith, the Dame and Sarwar will make it all better instead of just howling your own lack of self worth.

  13. I wonder if they are so delusional they actually believe what they say or they are just lying either way very dangerous for scotland

  14. I kind of think it will lead to fairly extreme tax rises that will impact more than just the top 5%.

All in it together is a fine soundbite u til you realise we are all in it together and you are 10% worse off.

Indy is probably good for us in the long run but we shouldn’t lie about the pain in the short term

  15. “Salesman tells you product will be really good”

Shocked to the core I am.

  16. Jam tomorrow- Just like they told us about Brexit.. once Scotland secured independence within 5 years we’d then have to form a new set of political parties… and if we are lucky then we might get a Scottish version of the Labour Party, perhaps a Scottish version of the Tory Party or an uncertain far left or far right coalition to govern us .. or we could simply vote for Labour in 2024 and get of the Toxic Tories for a generation…

  17. I remember when people on this sub lost their minds over the council tax freeze – saying it will devastate councils.

Labour have vowed to freeze both National Insurance and Income Tax if they get in:

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/labours-rachel-reeves-vows-not-31815588

This is a far, far more onerous policy, which if enacted will need to be paid for somehow – either with a slew of stealth taxes or massive austerity. This will devastate services needing funding – which will in turn have a negative impact on everyone’s living standards.

But I suppose that’s ok for some – as it’s Labour, not the Tories. Labour are “special”

  18. “Brexit is cake and unicorns, it’s based on hope and lies”

    – SNP politicians various

“If we leave the UK it will be sunlit uplands cake and unicorns”

    – SNP politicians various

Laughable if it wasn’t for people being so gullible.

  19. Well when your population is falling due to being eaten by packs of stray XL bullies, there would be more resources for the rest

  20. long term? no one knows, either way.

Short term? no, not a chance, it will cost us a lot and living standards will decline, we need to be honest about that.
