Continued US support of Ukraine is a very important part of the supply line supporting the defense of Ukraine. Unfortunately short sighted and political views of some Republican members of Congress are seriously impeding US support. President Biden is not a dictator: Congress must approve US expenditures on the part of Ukraine.
As this article points out Republican members of Congress “need to game out what will happen if American military aid to our embattled ally dries up in the coming weeks, and how America’s interests in the region will be affected if it does.”
Trump seems to be giving advice to Republicans in Congress . Those that take it seem to be turning against Ukraine or making impossible demands before they support Ukraine. And then there are Republicans like the following who appear to vote against things only because they don’t want to do anything that might make Democrats look better. Following this view one gets to the point where helping Ukraine might make Biden appear successful, so its better to not help Ukraine. That is true, secure the boarder and Ukraine money approved. I’m not in favor of any stalling of Ukraine funding, but I can’t see why the dems didn’t compromise and give some border funding.

What’s really interesting about all this is that the rug is slowly (finally) being pulled away on the astronomical costs of US arms versus what’s actually produced. $874bln a year can’t make unlimited arty shells for Ukraine? Each one of those guided shells costs as much as a new Mercedes when it should cost as much as a new couch. Each Javelin missile costs about the same! If all that money can’t supply a single country with enough firepower to conquer the lousiest military on earth, then that’s a national defense risk. What else are we spending all this money for??

USA has tried to find a way to wage war against Russia for 60 years. Now it has one (a cheap one too) where US citizens don’t even have to fight and it’s like um…. But what if we hold back key stuff from them till loads of people die unnecessarily every god dam time. No artillery okay then yeah arty, No tanks okay then tanks, no missiles launchers oh fuck it but no jets well maybe some jets….. Wake up look at US military stock markets ! Your printing money for your country that if you don’t do enough now you will have to pay more later.

Its completely absurd and this is why Trump is one of the most dangerous people in the world to Western Democracy!
If the Republicans don’t get their act together on Ukraine, they need to be punished at the polls and understand that it’s a major part of why they lost. If you’re an independent or (better yet) a Republican, reach out to the RNC and tell them that you will not support any candidate who does not support Ukraine. And if you’re Republican, I urge you to vote for pro-Ukraine candidates in primaries and the like.
