>I have said back to him very clearly the situation we are now facing is that the alternative to providing accommodation centres is people on the streets.
And why is that now?
Edit: Housing, we didn’t get here ‘overnight’ either.
Dozens of people shoved into a disused hotel or nursing home isn’t moving them into a community. The way he looks down at any dissenting opinion is disgusting.
If he truly believes that then why bother with public consultations on anything? Little despot.
He’s not an autocrat though. Stop calling him an autocrat!
There sorta is a veto though. As an example, When BTL apartments are proposed in communities the local residents groups always kick up about the transient nature of renters ruining the community and object to them being built.
Why don’t the people making big money off of housing IPS in these small towns have to apply for a change of use from hotels/nursing home/offices etc? at least there would be some sort of transparency involved going down that route. Be better than the current rumors and whispers and arsons that we have now due to the state’s shoddy communication about them.
Completely disingenuous to say that these are people fleeing war/famine/etc. 70% of our applicants are coming from the UK.
Plenty of vetos where the locals can lawyer up.
He’s right
“You’ll shut the fuck up and take whatever I dump on you, don’t you know you cunts are making me look bad to the EU” – Leo Varadkar’s Lessons in Leadership.
He more or less threatened to remove the local FG councilor from the election ticket if they didn’t support the government’s point of view or more his point of view
no one has a problem with people who bought a house or are renting. People don’t like warehousing people in disused buildings. That pic there that building has 12 rooms for 50 people that the government wants to put into
