Despite many claims here, because of the last year exceptionnal year for France, about how France is usually an importator of “polluted” electricity (from Germany). We can quite that, despite the cold (-4°C), France is able to export electricity and helps neighbors to reduce their co2 production per kwh used.

  1. Oh congratulations, you have waited enough time to find the hour of the day france exports. You know that this website is hourly and exports and imports can change multiple times a day?

But still nice try at a propaganda post. Would do the same tbh.

  2. Welcome to a Nuclear based grid: safe, clean and abundant electricity!

  3. Why is Corsica in the red? Does it only import electricity from Italy (orange arrows)?

  4. Despite the cold, France remains a net exportator of hotness

  5. Ireland is in the process of building a multi billion euro interconnector between us and France to buy electricity.

Ireland is to small to go nuclear alone and needs to fill the gap in energy generation when wind and other renewable resources is low. For this Ireland signed an agreement with France to have access to enough energy to power about 1 quater of homes in Ireland.

Ireland gets energy and France gets paid to help maintain and upgrade their infrastructure, its a win win thanks to EU funding.

  6. The picture is misleading.

“Despite the cold” is misleading because the french reactors have problems in the summer when the rivers used for cooling dry up. It’s also the time when france gets large amounts of solar power from the rest of the EU, especially Germany.
Solar power is probably also the reason why OP choose to show us the situation on a specific date at 05:00 o’clock in the morning.

    The picture is misleading.

  7. Ofcourse they are. They’re the only country left sane enough to recognize nuclear is the future!

  8. Península Ibérica is still an Energy Island because France refuses to commit to build the connectors needed in any meaningful way. Picture makes it look like, we are trading energy with France just as France does with the rest of the Continent.

  9. This is an understatement. France broke the record for most exported electricity in a day twice in the last few weeks.

  10. Btw in the last weeks France broke the record: up ti 18 GW exported in some moments. EDF makes 1 million €/hour only from this

  11. Oh all the summer they very well imported coal power from Germany.

Nuclear savior failed horrible. Now lets pump Billions tax money into renewing the slave mine labor and building new plants instead of building sustainable decentralised power sourcing.
For another 40 years of waste collection, subventions and outages.

  12. Great for Europe, shit for French people though.

Since the change of the European energy market, French people pay much more for their electricity, meanwhile France production is said to be one of the cheapest.

I have paid 30% more since the war in Ukraine, we also had a lot of unused nuclear plants last year. Now we are able to export massively, but my provider told me I’ll have to pay 10% more this year too.

This electricity deal was one of the most Fucked up things that happened to us, but hey, Engie and Total are making a shit tons of money 🙂
