Hi all!
A few weeks ago people on this forum helped me find the right young people willing to share their stories dealing with the housing crisis in Lisbon. We’re also working on a piece regarding Porto and Algarve.
Here’s the finished video, we’re keen on any feedback!

Great work, Elena!
TIL a Páginas Amarelas ainda existe como companhia…
Thank you for bringing further international attention to this problem which, unfortunately, is not inherent to Portugal but to most countries of our generation. Keep up the good work!
You are comparing a region (Algarve) with two small cities, Lisbon (100 km2) and Porto (40 km2)? Or you are comparing with the Metropolitan Regions of Porto and Lisbon, composed by dozens of different municipalities?
Thank you for the video! I hope it gets a lot of reach.
Do you have a set duration on the video? There are a lot of factors that go around this whole problem and should be included;
Foreign investment
Immigration from poorer countries
Literal human and job trafficking
Slow and inefficient justice system
Bureaucratic system
Frozen rents and rent control
Heavy taxes
Very little construction
No planning the future (in Portugal you do stuff for your 4 year term, not 20 years ahead)
Our overall government and their ties and lobbies to make it like this. Why would our ex prime minister Antonio Costa want to do something to devalue his 6 or 7 properties?
The list goes on and on…
Also don’t forget to add to your Algarve piece the almost like Lisbon prices on houses and the even worse public transportation and salaries
