  1. Two of our greats gone in the past couple of years. Life truly comes at you fast. Rest in peace, Kaiser

  3. Franz Beckenbauer was one of the best players this club has ever had, and his importance for German football in general cannot be understated. He played a heroic match in the 1966 World Cup final, and he captained both the 1972 Euro and 1974 World Cup winning team. With Bayern he won 3 European Cups, 4 Meisterschaften, and 4 DFB-Pokale. He later went on to coach the national team at multiple tournaments, winning the 1990 World Cup in Italy. His later accomplishments around the 2006 World Cup in Germany have sadly been overshadowed by all sorts of shady background dealings we have almost come to expect from FIFA executives, but I don’t think there’s a person that has done more for German football. May he rest in peace.

  4. Absolute legend, completely gutted a huge huge loss to every Bayern fan

  5. Fh devestating news, what a player! RIP Der Kaiser

  6. RIP Franz. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our beloved club.

  7. RIP greatest Bayern player ever, I have seen every footage of him, what a master in defense and attack

  8. Oh wow… I have no words. There’s nobody like him on the pitch and off. I’ll have to let this one settle for a minute.

In a strange twist of fate, there was already a Beckenbauer documentary scheduled for this evening on the ARD (first German TV channel).

  9. RIP Der Kaiser. I’m so sad, he was a cornerstone for our club for nearly 60 years. He will be missed.

  10. Such sad news, I hope he was in peace. Hard to overstate all that he’s done for our club and German football, not to mention the game as a whole
