A few weeks back there was a video of the Nepalese in a truck in the Russian army going to the front. Essentially you could see that the Russians had tricked them without them knowing. Like convicts etc. they would be used as canonfodder.
This week the Nepalese government decided to intervene and has forbidden Nepalese to seek employment in The Russian army or to go to Ukraine. They knew how those ‘fighters’ would never return.
At least working in the Qatari footballstadiums they had a change upon survival.

I’d say I have no sympathy for foreign fighters that turned to what is essentially, mercenary work (even though they’re part of the regular army) but unlike the Russians, I’m not a monstrous piece of shit and I recognize the complex socioeconomic reasons that lead people down certain paths. However, my sympathy ends at Ukraine’s 2013 borders. Surrender, until then, I hope they get roasted by HIMARS.
I think Morpheus speech to Neo on the Matrix works in a lot of RL situations, to paraphrase, “. . . these are the minds of the people we’re trying to save but while they’re in the system, they’re apart of the system, and until freed, that makes them our enemy.”
They will die in the mud along with the rest of the invaders.
