  1. With the way Boeing has been building aircraft lately, I don’t think anyone was shocked to find out this wasn’t an isolated incident. It’s very fortunate no one was sucked out from these plugs failing on other jets. This negligence on Boeing’s part is unforgivable.

  2. That is absolutely horrendous. The FAA needs to come down on Boeing with an anvil the size of Nebraska.

  3. Hopefully this will help bring an end to Boeing’s monopoly on US commercial air travel, this is just sloppy.

  4. Pretty big deal for them to find so much so quickly. The last time these planes were grounded, the only result was a change to the software that controlled the nose pitching up/down.

  5. They want the FAA to grant an exemption to a known safety issue with the 737 Max 7 and grant an air worthiness certificate. Telling the FAA that they eventually will engineer a fix and retrofit any aircraft already in service.

  6. Sure would be great if any of the MBAs responsible for all of these kerfuffles, and the hundreds of people already murdered by Boeing, would see some prison time. Dennis Muilenburg, the CEO during the Max crashes was fired and still walked away with over $60 million in stock and pension benefits.

  7. I said this in another thread but Mcdonnel Douglas + Boeing Merger will go down as one of the worst things to happen to American Manufacturing ever, and we’ll look back at that moment as an inflection point when America lost its might in manufacturing.

It’s hard to imagine now, but I dont think Boeing’s commercial aviation branch will last another 30-40 years. They’ve been a disaster and basically surviving on government hand outs.

MBA’s ruined American manufacturing and finance. Let’s hope they never get their hands on Tech and Space.

  8. hey, torque wrenches are fucking expensive. “tight enough” has become an acceptable replacement.

  9. At what point do consumers en-masse refuse to fly on these aircraft, if ever? When there’s a few more fatal crashes?

  10. Boeing have apparently worked out a solution to the 737-Max’s problems. They are going to change the name of it.

  11. How many people do Boeing need to kill before they get a massive kick up the arse?

  12. No information on why they are loose yet – these aren’t your car wheel nuts after a tyre change though.

Its unlikely that this was caused by a guy forgetting to tighten them up, and a QA forgetting to check.

Its well established that “The devil is in the detail” in engineering.
This may actually not be a procedural failing on the part of Boeing – time will tell.

    (Competitor employee)

  13. CEO of Boeing will resign after receiving a $15 million bonus

  14. I don’t know if the head of QA for the 737 Max is a management puppet or a fool, but they are clearly ineffective and should be replaced with someone competent.

  15. Watch that documentary on Netflix about Boeing and you won’t be surprised to hear news like this.

  16. I was scheduled to fly on one of these planes tomorrow morning, flight was cancelled a couple hours ago

  17. I’m going to start checking the aircraft I’m flying on before buying tickets… Airbus stays winning.

  18. Jesus I don’t want to fly on these maxes. Fuck you boing

  19. “loose bolts on plug doors” which means this will happen again and again.

Bolts come loose in badly designed things.

Some airline somewhere is going to lapse in checking and rechecking those bolts.

On the positive side. airlines can charge a premium for aisle seats, and let the peasants in the window seats get sucked out.

  20. Boeing should invest more in quality equipment and employees than stock buy backs. Too bad they basically have to sacrifice their entire business to ensure short term profits. Airbus is about to take over.

  21. Well, I guess it’s time for another round of stock buy backs to keep the shareholders happy.

  22. We need to ban MBA holding exec from making any decision in tech/manufacturing. These people are literally just one level above business admin and making decision that’s safety critical.

If they don’t have some kind of engineering background, they shouldn’t be making decision that affect lives.

  23. You obviously have to wonder what else was not correctly built/ bolted on the plane. Not good. At this point if I could choose the manufacturer of the plane I’m flying on – it would be Airbus every time.

  24. i flew on a united one a couple weeks ago that sounded abnormally loud in the cabin so this is great to find out about 🫠

  25. Does Boeing, like… *know* how to make aircraft any more?
