Some of these pricks need float testing. Same as the cunt weasels that steal/ damage the throwing rings by rivers and lakes.
Same thing happens in Glasgow, beggars belief which species of under-beings think this is acceptable behaviour
Wait people actually do this, why though? That’s too cruel
I mean just have the punishment for stealing them set to having a cardiac arrest induced on the thief. Pretty sure your see a sharp decline in it.
What do they even do with them after stealing them?
Just when I thought I couldn’t lose any more faith in humanity
The day after Eriksen collapsed at the Euros, some pricks damaged one at a nearby football club for fun. It was a couple of teenagers and it was just wanton vandalism and probably only happened because defibrillators had just been in the news, however they new what they were doing. It’s just disgusting that people are OK with endangering others like that.
OK, let’s suppose I’ve stolen a defibrillator. WHAT NOW? wtf do I do with it? What’s the ????? step of the plan that goes before “profit”?
…I don’t understand.
Do people do this shit because they know it can cause harm and distress, and they just get off on that?
>The charity said trying to prevent theft or damage by locking them in cabinets led to delays in an emergency situation
I’ve got first hand experience with this. Last year I found a man lying on the floor in cardiac arrest, my colleague started CPR while I went to a defibrillator which was conveniently nearby – only the ambulance call handler couldn’t find the access code for the box. This man had a cardiac arrest very near to a life saving piece of equipment yet we couldn’t get to it.
He was very lucky in that there was an ambulance three minutes away. When they arrived he was in a shockable rhythm so they were able to bring him back, but if they had been 8 minutes away as is their target response time, it’s likely he would have died.
I’m a bit dubious about the value of public defibrillators. They cost a lot of money for Councils to install and maintain, and see pretty much zero use. Not convinced Joe Public would be able to use one in a pinch, and a lot of people would be worried about liability if they accidentally fried a stranger.
Stats on their cost VS usage would make for an interesting FoI request.
