Seems that machine translation from Swedish is rarely perfect, but this one is just weird (see the text below the PM’s video)

  1. >You don’t have just any job

FTFY, but maybe it was big arbetsförmedling making a cyber push aiming to lower our morale.

  2. It seems it’s not just insta.

“Ni har inte vilket jobb som helst.” = “You don’t have any job.” in Google Translate.

The word “helst” in a sentence seems to be difficult to translate.

  3. Probably because Swedish is a small language, so very little effort is devoted to tailoring the translation engine for our specific language.

That aside, I get sad every time I see a Swedish politician copy/paste some American tripe and just replace the country names. It’s also extra weird when it’s done by the same people who keep harping on about how important it is for Sweden to maintain its cultural heritage and whatnot.

  4. “Y’all mothafuckas need to get of yo mamas couch and get a real fuckin job” – Statsministern till svenska försvarsmakten.

  5. Y’ALL DON’T HAVE ANY JOBS

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  6. Y’all done nuthin’! We’ve all done sumthin’! ‘Nuff said. (Vote right-wing conspiracy nuts in your next election!)

  7. Machine translation can struggle with informal language, slang, or context-specific expressions. Instagram’s translation may not fully grasp the nuance of the Swedish phrase, leading to a less accurate English translation. Improvements in machine translation are an ongoing challenge.
