Sounds like a losing war.
You know the invasion and occupation is going well when you have to deploy 35k of your closest core defending army in the region you have conquered in the hopes of quelling rebellion
Hopefully the partisans take care of them.
It will all change when they start calling up the monied young. You know, the people cheering it all from their nice homes in the cities.

Don’t underestimate them. While this is not enough to secure even currently occupied territories, russian police/national guard are ruthless mfers who will make life in the occupied part of Ukraine even worse than now.

While the guards are away, it’s an excellent opportunity for revolution. Just saying.
Is this really new? National guards were in Bucha. It’s just a military which bypasses the military command structure to make a coup more difficult, similar to the IRGC in Iran or Saudi national guard.
Russia should have learned that an occupying force is going to be fighting on multiple fronts. I wasn’t too sure how ready these zones were to become “Russian” but if they’re deploying 35,000 troops they’re either worried there will be a strong resistance or they’re already seeing it. Either way, it’s not a good look for Russia. How able are you going to be to hold those territories without having to commit to a costly occupation?

In US, national guards go through training to keep their skills intact. The guards are often sent out alongside regular military to be able to coordinate together.
Can you see Russia doing that?
