Came across this relic today. I’d stick it on if I had anything that could play it!

  1. Bet you could find a player on ebay. Or find someone with a 20+ year old car.

  2. Mostly good, but fuck Bono and that bastard from LostProphets

  3. From the looks of the songs on it, this was outdated even when it was made!

  4. It has Lost pprophets on it. Burn it, Burn it with fire!!

  5. Oh you’re such a teenage dirtbag baby!

FYI. There is a usb cassette player for digital conversion.
“Ion” made one and a turntable version.

Although obviously you can just download or stream tracks now. But if you happen to have rare tracks or edits on tape you can port them.

  6. Have you looked through your kitchen drawers? There’s usually a high probability of finding a Walkman (or portable cassette player) in there, probably under a manual for a toaster you’ve never owned.

  7. Lost prophets probably need to be cut but apart from that looks like my kinda playlist

  8. I’ll give you a lift in my 06 Peugeot Partner and have a sing along!

  9. I’m pretty convinced that 8-Trac’s, tapes and the like are going to be the equivalent of Linear A or some other undecipherable ancient language to our far future descendents. Unless they’re pretty lucky they’ll have treasure troves of old crap that they can’t possibly hope to ever use.

  10. Remember when you had to use tape on the corner, so you could record on them? Or when the player chewed up the reel and you’d have to carefully dislodge the fucking thing? Or all those fun times we had, having to reel the bastard back in in with a pencil/pen? Fun times!

  11. Excellent. And you’ve got fantastic Tape Writing too.

  12. I have a fully functioning Technics tape deck as part of our sound system. Also a CD and miniCD player. I can’t bear to part with them, even though now all we listen to is digital or vinyl.

I retain the tape deck as I have 3 tapes that I created over some years when I was young of random songs from my friends parents record collection. I have tried to replicate them with Spotify playlists, but some of the old stuff (40s and 50s) I know the song, but not the artist (in those days a song was done my many people).

Anyway, tape decks rule, and you pry my Technics baby from my cold dead hands

  13. I found a Kylie Minogue cassette burried in my garden when I was digging a veg patch last summer

  14. Looks like something made by that little monkey fella on XFM in the early 2000’s

  15. Saw u2 and wasn’t going to read further but gave you the benefit of the doubt and then saw lost prophets, why would you be proud to share that you sick fuck

  16. Great songs on there, probably need to remove Lost Prophets though after their leed singer went all Gary glitter on steroids

  17. Classic mix tape, I still think of a lot of these song as new.
    I’m so old. Hahaha

  18. Did it originally have no U2, then one day you just woke up and U2 had added their songs to it?

  19. Sadly you’ll need to swap out those Lost Prophets tracks now 🙁

  20. There’s some fucking shit music on that before I even mention that paedo Watkins. Couple of decentish tracks right enough.

  21. I live in the same village as the singers mam from lostprophets :/ always feel awful when I listen to them now. Buttttt it’s a great playlist.

  22. I found some tapes at the weekend too. Also found my Gameboy colour complete with Pokémon yellow – it still works like a dream 😄

  23. Semisonic – Closing Time and Stereophonics – A Thousand Trees are absolute bangers.
