President Biden says Billionaires have a moral obligation to contribute to society, not just hoard wealth. It’s time for them to pay their fair share. Do you agree or disagree?

  1. Election year? We know you work for em’ Biden, no need to blow smoke up our ass lol

Edit: This is a slap in the face after Bernie, seriously.

  2. This is just a copy and pasted tweet from Bernie. They have no intention on ever implementing such taxes, so this is purely theater.

  3. Raising taxes on the rich means raising taxes on members of Congress. I guess that idea just went out the window.

  4. It’s a meangingless statement without any action following it

  5. Biden plagiarizing Bernie Sanders bullshit just makes him sound stupid, on top of senile.

    Our tax code ‘rewards’ nobody.

‘Income and wealth inequality’ are meaningless democrat dog whistles.

40% of Americans pay all the federal income taxes. 60% don’t. I have no idea how many of them are ‘working’.

Nobody ‘pays their fair share of taxes.’ Everybody pays what they owe.

  6. Even here in Sweden we abolished wealth tax, and there’s no plan on bringing it back. I don’t see how the US would nor should implement it.

  7. They contributed to society by creating whatever is now worth 1 billion dollars.

We have millions who contribute nothing and require taxpayer support to survive. Many are able bodied.

Those people need to start contributing.

    Biden is a sock puppet.

Scapegoating private citizens is not a good look.

  8. Nobody should have a billion dollars.

Just communism everything you get after you hit that point.

You have more than enough for 100 lifetimes.

  9. I agree with the first part of President Bidens statement “For too long our tax code has rewarded wealth not work”

A tax code that he was instrumental in creating and that he and his friends benefited from.

Is this just a last ditch attempt before he dies, or is it grandstanding? Regardless it reeks of dishonesty.

Our tax code is way too complicated. It was designed that way intentionally. It is possible to implement a simple tax system that rewards hard work and is still progressive. It is called the Fair Tax, and before everyone tells me it is regressive, it includes a prebate to ensure that no American pays such federal taxes up
    to the poverty level.

  10. I’ll believe he cares when something meaningful is enacted and starts occurring. And given his track record this admin, I don’t expect that to happen.

  11. I don’t give a fuck what he says. The only thing that matters is action.

Politicians are famous for talk. Talk is cheap.

  12. Biden worships billionaires and hates the poor. He’s just another right-winger grifter lying to people.

  13. Biden can STFU !!! Absolutely moronic President.

Can’t imagine any sane person would think to themselves at 82, Oh, I think I should run the government of the most powerful nation in history until I’m 86.

    Jacka$$ !!!

  14. A few billionaires or all of Congress adding trillions in debt every single year.

  15. Comparing the taxation of billionaires to an inanimate object is a compelling way to illustrate the concept. Let’s take the example of a strand of lights: Imagine a scenario where one bulb on the strand shines excessively bright, drawing more power than necessary. This causes the other bulbs to dim or not shine as brightly as they could. In this analogy, the overly bright bulb represents a billionaire hoarding wealth, while the dimmer bulbs symbolize the rest of the society.

When one bulb (the billionaire) consumes more resources (wealth), it leads to an imbalance in the system. This imbalance is not just a matter of fairness but also of functionality. In a well-functioning society, like a well-functioning strand of lights, all parts should contribute and receive resources equitably. If one bulb draws too much power, not only does it risk burning out itself, but it also compromises the functionality and brightness of the entire strand.

Similarly, if billionaires are taxed more equitably, it ensures that wealth is more evenly distributed across society. This redistribution can lead to improved public services, infrastructure, and overall societal health, much like how a balanced distribution of electricity ensures that each bulb on the strand shines brightly. The goal is to achieve a balance where each part of the system contributes to and benefits from the collective whole, ensuring both individual and collective well-being.

  16. Capital allocation isn’t a job. Billionaires sitting on hoards of cash are leeching off society.

  17. Biden wants the billionaires to pay their fair share…in a debt based monetary system where we have hit $34 TRILLION in National debt.

The government spends like a child in a candy store that just found a hundred dollar bill. The interest alone on this debt has already reached the level of our military spending!!! The buffoonery never ends with these clowns!!!

  18. Getting sick of hearing it. They aren’t going to do anything meaningful until we scare the shit out of them

  19. The moral obligation is to earn what you work for and not accept dependency on government

  20. Agree, and holy **** seeing Biden talk like Bernie hits different.

I’d chalk it up to campaigning if he hadn’t done like $140b in student loan debt forgiveness.

He’s way, way better than I imagined he could be.

  21. Excuse me while I hand my hard earned $15 billion dollars, to my 16 year old daughter, as part of my estate.

She’s lived a rough life so far, and I think she has earned three professional sports teams, five $250million boats, unlimited cars, and twenty $25millon homes.

  22. I’d argue that billionaires contribute to society through spending and that their tax dollars wouldn’t be used as efficiently in governments and beuracracy – important stuff usually gets funded anyways. Example, if there were no billionaures, who’d be pushing the space industry.

  23. Tax all your buddies at 100% and it hardly makes a dent. There’s enough getting paid into the system but where does it go?

  24. It is better for the economy if billionaires don’t hoard wealth we should have inheritance tax of 95% over 1bn
