  1. There is no confirmation. The article just says that they thinking about it, which is what we’ve been hearing for a while now

  2. >“The position of the Church of Greece remains that children have an innate need and therefore a right to grow up with a male father and a female mother. No amount of social modernization and no amount of political correctness can bypass (this),” the Church circular said.

I am patiently awaiting for the Church to publish its peer-reviewed research on the topic. Until such time, they are cordially invited to shut the fuck up.

  3. I don’t understand why other people’s choice of dogma should have anything to do with other people’s rights to live their own lives how they see fit.

  4. The conservatives should be proud! They’re embracing their classical roots! Alexander the Great being bi

… yes I know not exactly… and their ideas of masculinity/straight was different than modern times

  5. Turning back to ancient roots I see 🤣👍🦢

  6. Few people outside of Greece can understand the vast changes in Greek society over the past decades. The church has a lot more weight in politics than in real mainstream society. I’m not going to deny there are still a lot of improvements to be made, but I’m so proud of my countrymen and the evolution that I have personally observed since the 90s.

  7. Good for them. You go, Greece. That’s never going to happen in countries like Romania that lack education and are still stuck in the 19th century dominated by the church

  8. Polling suggests the majority of Greeks want this. Nice to see democracy function properly. Italy could do with taking the cue.

  9. Curious concern for Greek, of all people.

I guess Classical isn’t always Orthodox.

  10. “Despite Orthodox Church opposition”

Well to bad, secularism for the win!

  11. post it when it happens lol . People have been posting the same article every week regardless of the government saying “they’ll do it by the end of their term (2027)” and that they have a big opposition in this subject from conservatives in their party and even ministers .

  12. Hopefully Cyprus follows suit but the Cypriot church is much more influential and powerful so I doubt it.

  13. yeahhhh we been saying that lol wake me up when it actually happens

seriously so disappointed in our dark age government slacking on this. we basically invented being gay and the civil union consolation is embarrassing atp

  14. Nice, they really went “reject modernity, embrace tradition.”

  15. I’m certain it will happen this year. We never had this discussion about same-sex marriage pop up so often as it does recently. The government is preparing society for it.

  16. There was no need to do that we already knew that Greeks where Gayest in Europe 🫶

PD: ( Its a joke don’t kill me greeks)

  17. Are they actually going to do it now? Or is this just then tenth accouncement that they’re going to do it with no action to follow it up?

  18. Those orthodox people can shut up, our history is far older than their religion.

  19. Watch all the homophobes go at it in force… we’re not there yet but still: one step closer for Greece! Looking forward towards the law being passed ☺️😎👏

  20. marriage is a religious sacrament the state should have nothing to do with it . it should be fully subsumed into laws regarding treaties between citizens.

  21. Glad to hear this honestly. Gay rights are human rights.
