Have I just not used a bus in ages or is this new?

The cctv cycle also included the outside of bus views as well as the pedals. Why??

  1. So you can watch the driver’s foot go down as you get rocked forward/back.

  2. Not a bus driver but my guess is that the camera on the pedals is for insurance/quality monitoring. They can in the event of an accident see exactly what the driver was doing.

However, normally you would not see these camera feeds (or the ones outside the vehicle despite them sometimes being of use for passengers) so someone clearly made a mess of getting the bus switched on or working right in the morning.

  3. My guess would be that there are the regular 5-10 CCTV angles that are shown inside the bus for everyone’s reassurance / awareness that they’re on camera, and then others for “black box” type recording in the event of an accident… all recorded but only the regular ones shown.

Someone doing maintenance probably plugged the feeds in the wrong way round and now there’s a secret camera of the back seats that doesn’t get shown, in place of the driver’s position.

  4. surely that’s an invasion of privacy and borderline sexual assault ? Why should anyone hyper-fixate on a man/woman’s legs as they drive. This is outrageous

  5. probably two different modes for the cameras. this mode is likely for when the driver is in training and they have someone sitting in one of the passenger seats marking them.
